NHT Super Center Channel Speaker Review

I love this center channel speaker. great sound and goes well with the SuperZero 2.1 speakers. Completed setup of 4 NHT SuperZero 2.1 and this SuperCenter 2.1. Got the center while heavily discounted for a few days.

I've always loved NHT Ones & Zeros. They sound very clear and clean. So I replaced my outdated NHTs with 4 NHT SuperZero 2.1 mini monitor speakers (single gloss black) and a SuperCenter 2.1. I was not disappointed, the sound is better than ever. The dialogue is crisp and clear, the surround sound is fantastic, and the music sounds great. Had NHTs from the 90's and such but one of the speakers in my old Supercenter cracked (after 20+ years) so I decided to get new to order as this appeared to be the same speaker. The page above says it's a 150w speaker, just like the original, but when I received it it says 75w on the speaker and packaging. So thanks for wasting my time on this. I don't want to risk ruining the speaker so send it back and buy another brand.

Bought a center channel speaker to use my stereo as the main sound source for my TV instead of buying a soundbar. It's great for TV and film dialogue, delivers crystal clear sound from the right place and sounds great when paired with a pair of good bookshelf speakers for music playback. Since it sits on top of the mouthpiece beneath the wall-mounted TV, the recessed/sloped ports are a nice touch, allowing it to sit relatively flush with the back panel.

Overall this is a good speaker for the money. The problem is that I paired it with much better speakers. Overall clarity is lacking compared to my other speakers. My speakers have a clarity, a purity that I've never heard from other speakers. This really underwhelms the NHT's center speaker. I use classic AR (Acoustic Research) speakers front and back without a subwoofer. Maybe I should have gone to a more expensive NHT center but I'm afraid that might be disappointing as well. These days when a lot of people ride turrets, I've decided to build small ones instead. So I went in search of the smallest (hermetic) bookshelves I could find and settled on NHT. The company has been around for many years since I started with audio almost 18 years ago. Glad to know NHT is still in business and amazingly 18 years later still making the same design.
