Proper optics for binoculars and telescopic sights

After military service I probably got used to the best optics. This is normal for the average person wanting to see something up close at night.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Very important. Very effective

Excellent price. Very effective, especially with IR on. Ideal for tracking down creatures when night hunting. Compact design, light weight and great feel. Good optics, but the field of view could be a bit wider.

Spend more and get 2nd generation or higher.

Received on time, taken out of the box and put in the battery which was not included. After waiting for dark, he went outside and turned it on. I couldn't see anything, so I turned on the infrared heater. Nothing has changed, it didn't work so I returned it. They sent me another one to exchange. When I tried the replacement, the illuminator worked, but I still couldn't see well. In fact, after my eyes adjusted to the dark, I could see about the same with or without a monocular. They come back…

Good for the money but an accident is imminent

Used it for one night and returned it for the 5X version. It's a decent block and I had a lot of fun with it. It certainly greatly improves the available night light and makes objects visible to your eye. Sharpness is very good in the center but not so good at the edges. Although I have read that this is normal. The manual says infrared light isn't visible to the human eye, but the people you shine it on can see it. However, it's okay. My main issue was the lack of some sort of strap. Either a…

Works as advertised and available.

I've been using my Night Owl night vision monocular for about a month and this review is based on the following observations: Pros: Works well for seeing in the dark at 20-150 yards. Features a lens adjustment +/- like binoculars to adapt to your eyes. You can see very well without using the IR Illumination feature in minimal light if your eyes can't see fully - it illuminates it like daylight in a scope. The IR illuminator works well over long distances and is like a powerful, invisible…

Surprisingly sensitive, disappointing optics (astronomically speaking)

Given the low cost of this monocular, my expectations were not that high. My intended use was for wide field stargazing (at infinity). I was surprised by the screen resolution; it resolved and displayed faint stars well beyond typical optical binoculars of the same lens size. Response time was instant, there were no traces on the image at all. This part was an impressive surprise. I chose this device based on the size of the lens, thinking it would have the benefit of collecting more light…

Excellent entry-level night vision monocular

This Night Owl fourth generation night vision monocular offers excellent value for money. For less than $200, you get a well-designed viewer that offers surprisingly good performance to the user. These are two options for button-assisted vision, including night vision and an added infrared feature that really brightens up vision. However, when used, the monocular produces a beam visible to any animal or human, so there is a loss of anonymity or invisibility. This scope has a very good view…
