This type of built in fuse is a great way to use a fuse link in aftermarket car accessories. But they are not completely waterproof. They can withstand tough road dirt. You can install one of them in several ways. I like soldering it to the power line of every component I'm working on.

This is a well built block with a fuse cover and an inner conductor covered in a very resilient material that will withstand abrasion and heavy use.
