Purchased for Threadripper 2920X. Cools the processor (12 cores) without overclocking. I wouldn't put the processor on PBO either. This is JUST enough to keep the Stock 2920 fully satisfied - no throttling and fairly quiet. I bought a second fan in a two-stroke version. I give 5 stars for the quality and 4 stars for the cooling. I was using a Cooler Master liquid cooling system and my pump failed. I have this cooler and so far it's doing a great job of cooling. I think it might keep my CPU cooler than the previous cooler I had, but I didn't stress test it for very long.

Runs very well without overclocking. The radiator is saturated faster, but also cools down faster than water and lags behind the temperature much less. I'm seeing a max average of 68 degrees with occasional high loads and an idle average of around 38 degrees, which is only slightly warmer than water. On average, a game costs about 52 cents. All of this is ideal for air cooling.

Noctua's air cooler is one of the very few that claims to work with Threadripper and do so with no problem. My current setup is a 1st gen chip with 12 cores and 24 threads and idles around 20 degrees with this unit. Well, once I had such a huge and noisy Cooler Master AMD Wraith Ripper. Get this. This heatsink is much quieter, keeps my 2950X at 33C, I've never seen it that low! Best of all, it doesn't compete with the GPU for space. I'm shocked (no pun intended). I should have bought this brand a long time ago. I also paired it with another fan for a push-pull configuration and it's still quieter than the Cooler Master. It doesn't have an LED backlight, which is perfect for me.
