Ultra Quiet High Performance Case Fan

A great example of what can be achieved when designing an ultra quiet high performance case fan where static pressure is not a key requirement. Most Noctua fans I use are dual purpose, but I wanted something super quiet for the front of one of my cases where I don't have a lot of air resistance. About 100 cfm and less than 20 db. Enough. Caution: They are not suitable for water/air cooler heatsinks which experience significant drag when pushed through. German development. Small minus point: they are a bit expensive and bare bones. For example: They don't come with anti-vibration mounts. (More expensive Noctua will do) It's just a bare fan and a few mounting screws.

Pros & cons

  • Computer Components
  • Unbelievable Price

Quality fans, premium price. Gray kits without any adapters Cream kit

If you are looking for quality, Noctua is a good choice. I used this in a custom build targeting a non-PC application that's in the bedroom next to the bed, so not only did it need to be quiet, but it needed to have a nice soft whooshing tone. I'm happy with this fan, although as a Noctua fan I had a spare low speed adapter left over from a previous fan and used it in this particular application to make it even quieter. I have several Noctua fans and keep buying them. The gray "budget" kits do not come with all low-speed and extra-low-speed adapters like the brown/cream fan kits do, but they are all interchangeable.

Great fans, good price but some hum at full speed/12V

I bought these 3 pin fans because I wanted a high quality fan that would run straight from the PSU. If you want silence, buy the 700rpm version or use a low-noise adapter to drop the voltage down to 9V. They make an audible hum at 12V/1200RPM, but lower the voltage by one notch and they whisper softly. Speaking of hum, noise is such a subjective thing, but for me they definitely hum at 1200rpm. Where other, cheaper fans running at top speed, there is a "hiss" of moving air and an audible "crunch" of an underlying bearing produce, these fans do not make bearing noise but have a lower, almost propeller-like air moving blade pitch. which makes sense considering the shape of the blades! This is a bit of a nitpick, although for a gaming PC they will run fine on 12v, although for a quiet desktop or HTPC (or whatever you leave overnight) I'd suggest 9v or via a controller. They are high quality, sell for a decent price and don't really move me, look smart which is good if you don't want your

Noctua made me a fan now

I don't want to pay $100 for 2 fans of other brands. Thus, these series perfectly meet my requirements and at the same time offer the highest quality. If you haven't heard of Noctua, now is the time to order it. My case comes with 1 fan and it's pretty hot for heavy gaming until I have a few. I'm not kidding, it's a big difference. It's going down from the noise level to the heat, baby. So I took the opportunity to order 2 more fans to complete my case and WOW. I can barely hear anyone start the car. I want them to be black, not grey. But Noctua is known for its unusual fan colors. I would recommend it to Case fans. You also want to set your fans apart. Because vibrations can make strange noises when starting.

Good fan. - Case Fan

I think this is a good fan, but it's not perfect. As part of Noctua's Redux range, it comes with a more basic spec. I think these fans are probably not the best price in the roughly $14 range. But I went for a grey/silver build, so they're really good. I find them visually very beautiful. Thanks to its design, it channels air well through open spaces. I use a Noctua low noise adapter and it works well and is very quiet at around 900rpm. At stock speed it's a bit noisy in my opinion, but that's just me and your mileage may vary. Like other Noctua fans, it emits a low hum. Overall it works for me and I look forward to many years of service with it.

Pros & cons

  • Airflow optimized blade design, high CFM and exceptionally quiet operation, ideal for silent case cooling, case ventilation and other low airflow resistance applications
  • Available in black only

The color change is the icing on the cake.

These fans are good to to the ridiculous. I was stupid enough to buy two pre-built cases that had horrible temperature issues with the loudest noises other than a car engine in my room. Everything was fine but the noise still sounded like a rocket in the crotch. Traded for Noctua and haven't looked back since. The only downside was that I was concerned that the brown color would be unsightly on my new display case; Of course they fixed that too and I quickly bought a new set. The case sits right next to me on my desk and the only thing I hear when gaming under load is a slight coil squeak coming from my 2070. I will be building my first computer in the next few years and whichever fans came up with a new case they can fly apart as this case is in no way associated with Noctua fans.
