Good acidic flux for soldering flux

Pretty good flux, works well. Water washable so just rinse off when you're done. Very easy. The fumes are quite toxic and they definitely suck to breathe. Some people say they squirt a lot or make a mess. This only applies if you use too much and it accumulates. An easy way to prevent this is to use a cotton swab instead of a flux brush so you have more control over the volume. Also, it spatters when filling cracks/voids through bubble-flux interaction.

Pros
  • Soldering flux
Cons
  • Some small things

Iridescent Glass Novocan Black Patina Ruins

This is a review of NOVOCAN BLACK PATINA, not flux (which is sub-par - get Glastar). It would be very nice to know that Novocan Black Patina will spoil/eat the color of the rainbow on the stained glass windows. It is not listed anywhere on the bottle and I have not been able to find this information anywhere on the internet except for a specialized site that lists it in the product information. I had to search for information. Why? Because I spent over 40 hours with the stained glass pane…

A few tips (which I think apply to all fluxes I've used: no puddles!) - this eliminates the risk of spatter. Use whatever type of brush you need to achieve this. I like flux brushes but there are others that you might prefer if the flux brush has too much flux in it. Be sure to use on all seams - while most solders contain flux, I always find it best to apply a different line of flux. over it to…
