Still works for several years

We have not installed this motor yet. We have three plumbers servicing a heater that requires this motor for their fans. They seem to last about three years, then their bearings fail and I suspect they become a fire hazard because the heating element keeps running without a fan. We like the downstream feature to accept regular replacements, but they're annoying.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

EXACT replacement for NuTone 9665N

Ignore the plug pic on this replacement heater motor. The motor has lugged wires that attach to the terminal block. The heating element is also attached to the connector. Block The terminal block is supplied with electrical power, with wires connected to the plug. This is a simple install: remove the old block, remove the motor, then disconnect the fan and reinstall the fan on the new motor. Reinstall assembly

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Worked with no problems

As several people have pointed out the 'plug' is actually two ring protrusions but that was fine as the original was attached to the heater box so it was really straight replacement for the original. As others have pointed out, the flat portion of the shaft for clamping the fan body was not flattened enough on the shaft. I was just making sure the hex bolt was tight on the rounded part of the shaft and has been working fine since installation. It only took 15 minutes to disassemble the old…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors appeared
