These oxygen scavengers work just as well as others I've tried, but at a lower cost. None of them appear to have been "consumed" prior to arrival, which gives me confidence that this manufacturer knows how to make and maintain this product. The product was packaged in a sealed plastic bag apparently to protect against fresh oxygen; a good thing. However, if you don't have a Food Saver, you must use up all of the product's packaging relatively quickly when you open it, or it will be destroyed by the air around us. The packaging isn't really designed to be easy to reseal unless, as mentioned, you don't have any food left over. EDIT. I'm editing my review. I went to google and found out how it works. You MUST store them in a sealed, airtight container immediately to avoid activation (which I accidentally did by leaving the packaging open and exposing it to oxygen). When you're ready to use it, take it out and immediately reseal the container. Then put it directly into the package you want to use it in and seal it. I checked my packages and none seemed safe (which would mean they were used up and no longer functional)…
