only one problem suitable for rough installations

I bought this unit to fix the water hammer that occurs when my sprinkler timer goes off. Seems to work as advertised. It's easy to install and looks solid. I had an issue with water leaking around the inlet. My setup is a bit like Ruby Goldberg's, but nothing that detracts from the tight connection. I fixed it by replacing the small black hose washer with a new one I had on hand. I don't know what the problem is, there are no visible flaws.

Made in the USA? LAUGH OUT LOUD. No, made in CHINA

Both hydraulic shock absorbers I bought did not close. I tried everything I could think of. I used thread tape, silicone gel on washers. Not good. Also, please note that the product image is not what you will receive. Same model number, that's all. The image you see in the ad shows a much larger cavity used to absorb hammer blows. The picture also says "MADE IN USA". No, made in CHINA. Look at the photo of what I received and compare for yourself.

May Make Knocking Worse

I installed two of these shock absorbers on my dishwasher line - one on the hot line to the dishwasher and the other on the end of the pipe that goes to the faucet. Installed quickly, and that's the only plus. However, they did nothing to calm the pipes when the dishwasher was running or when they abruptly turned off the hot water on the faucet. Bang bang bang. I also tried to stabilize the tube but to no avail. In any case, they are already installed and I will not remove them to send them…

Eliminates most of the water hammer

They were easy to attach to my washing machine's hot and cold outlets. The washing machine inlets are stacked on top of each other, forcing me to install them on the laundry outlets and not directly on the washing machine. Our water pressure is about 60 psi. I just wish they were a little longer, but they eliminated most of the water hammer. Whenever I install new plumbing for toilets and washing machines, I always add a 10" air box if there is room in the wall. This only works for new…

Best snap and switch tool for rough plumbing

Formerly a decent American made product with a 6 inch spark gap as shown in the product photo. The new ones are made in China with a 1-1/2 inch spark gap. Now they are only marginally effective, nowhere near as good as the old ones. Disappointing 3/4 inch Watt hydraulic shock absorber. Cost about $75 including $30 for brass hardware purchased from my local home center (orange). Yes, not cheap, but the pipes are quiet now.

Not much quality control

I bought 2 of these to put in the washing machine. The first fit perfectly, no leaks. The second had a much smaller washer on the bib of the female hose. I tried multiple times to get it to stop but nothing worked. I replaced the washer with the standard hose washer I had and the leaks stopped. These two devices had to be manufactured in two different factories. The quality and finish on one was much better than the other. After a month I tried putting 2 on the cold water line to stop the…
