Best alternative for tripods and monopods

Use this tilt head on Canon 500 monopod holding Canon 6D with 100-400 lens. It works well, of course it's new and tight. We'll see in time. A much improved method compared to the light ball that monopod is equipped with. This is a win for me.

Pros
  • Glitter
Cons
  • Might choose newer model

I am very satisfied with the build quality of this pan head

I am very satisfied with the build quality of this pan head. It easily attaches to my monopod and gives me the support I've been looking for in a heavy lens. The quick release gives me the ability to detach the monopod from the lens when handheld shooting is preferred and not supported.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Long time

Sturdy and very quick release tilt head

This is a very solid tilt head, but note that you can only tilt or rotate, not both. No head issues really, but I will always insist that the locking lever is fully locked. It's a very quick way to lock your gear, but it never gave me the 100% confidence that a regular lock button would.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

11 pounds my leg! - Tripods and Monopods

This monopod head is said to hold 11 lbs, well I guess it does if you mean your lens doesn't actually fall off but it does slip and wobble no matter how good I have it tightened. I have a 120-400mm Sigma lens that weighs 4 pounds, which is a lot less than the head's intended capacity. Useless for this lens. I can only use it with my Sigma 28-300mm so the buyer should be warned.

Pros
  • Consistent Test Results
Cons
  • Reliability

Well built and works well

I use this on a Sirui P-306 monopod so I can tilt the camera up and down to add versatility to the monopod which works very well. It's well built and solid, heavier than I'd like, but has features I thought I needed like a quick release plate with locking lever. When the plate is placed normally on the camera it actually tilts side to side so I have to rotate the plate 90Β° to make it tilt up and down but in this case everything works fine. I felt the ball head would be too flexible on a…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled

Great price on tripods and monopods

I also have a Manfrotto 234RC. There isn't much of a difference in build quality between them. They're both pretty solid and I'm not afraid to entrust them with my camera with a 400mm f/5.6 lens - I use it to attach my camera to my telescope mount. I prefer the safety pin on the top to the chunky safety pin on the Manfrotto. Also, the Manfrotto's quick-release mechanism seems to be wearing out (it needs to be squeezed a bit over time to get a firm grip). Because of this, the cheaper price and…

Pros
  • Finally bought it

  • Some cons

Main Product: Tripods & Monopods

I've used ball and pan heads on my monopod but this is my first pan head and it works great. It supports my heavy 600mm lens, which I can now move up or down while watching ice hockey and field sports (soccer, soccer, field hockey, etc.) without having to awkwardly tilt the monopod. That doesn't seem like a big deal, but it makes it much smoother to follow the action than if the lens were attached to a standard monopod screw mount. And unlike the ball and pan heads I've tried, this pan head…

Pros
  • Regular Price

  • Not bad
