Good quality box for the price

Good quality box for the price. I'm a little concerned that the tiny hinges will break over time, but for only $10 I don't care. The reason I only give 3 stars is because the box isn't high enough. When you fill the back row with tea bags, they stick out about 1/4 inch higher than the box. So when you close the top, it breaks them. You can fix this by only filling each slot halfway so they have room to sit back. But that seems ridiculous.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • boring packaging

A "natural " tea box should not smell strongly of chemicals!

There's nothing "NATURAL" about the weird chemical smell that hits your face as soon as you remove the bubble wrap from this tea box! Even after airing out overnight, the box STILL smells very strongly of chemicals - inside and out! I do not put my tea bags in it in any way. I assume they will absorb the smell and I'm worried about ingesting the same chemical! (A small label on the bottom of the tea box mentions formaldehyde.)

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

You can't ask for anything better!

I didn't find any of the faults described by other reviewers. I received a beautiful box, beautifully made that got rid of the tea boxes cluttering my kitchen table. At first I tried lifting the tea bags up but many were too tall and kept the box open. However, laying them flat allowed me to fit an absolutely amazing amount of tea bags, and lying flat means they show up nicely through the glass lid. The magnet is strong and keeps the top securely closed. Such a beautiful box at such a fabulous…

Fragile quality - kitchen and dining room

I understand why it's only $12. However, I have never received such an inferior item on an Amazon order, so this is the first bad review for me. The photo does not show dirt and dust. I tried cleaning it and tightening the screws but it looked like it had been ripped off. When you put the tea bags in the box, the cubes on the sides prevent the lid from closing completely, as the top rim is slightly wider than the bottom rim. When you open the lid it feels like it's about to break, it's thin. I…

Contains formaldehyde!?!

Made with formaldehyde (embalming fluid) Impeccable quality. I liked this box of tea so much I bought 2, but with the second box (which I never used) I noticed a very strong chemical smell and don't remember when I bought the same box 3 years ago. The second box came with a note stating that formaldehyde had been used in the manufacture of the box and that it was "known to the State of California to cause cancer." If I had known that, I would not have bought a single box. Oh, and the tee needs…

CHEMICAL ORDOR, do not buy this box.

I loved this Oceanstar bamboo tea box. The size of the storage compartments is ideal for 12-14 tea bags. But the box has a terrible smell! I let it air out for a few days before pouring tea into it. After 3 days I lost patience and loaded it with tea - it made the tea smell like toxic chemicals. I've had this box of tea for a few weeks now and the chemical smell is still there. I am very disappointed with this product and I doubt the safety of the materials used. Dishes shouldn't smell like…

Lovely tea storage box

I first bought one of these for myself and I liked it so much that I bought the same one for my mum. I love drinking tea but storing tea can get messy so I thought this box would be a cool option. It is packed in a bubble envelope in a retail box so that it is well packaged and can be given as a gift. There is also a plastic sheet to protect the transparent window. Both of my had a strong odor, almost like mothballs, so I let them air out with the lid open for a couple of days. This solved the…

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Nothing here

A tea box should do 3 things: hold tea, open and close. It holds the tea and the lid opens so you can reach the tea when you need it. However, if you use the box like most people do, the lid won't close. The frame around the glass is so wide that it restricts the openings intended for tea and does not leave enough depth for the height of the tea bags. The lid lands on the tea bags and doesn't close completely. The workaround means that you can only fill 2 of the 8 sections completely, and for…
