Of all the hair clips I've tried, I keep coming back to these flat back ones. They sit on my head and don't dig into my scalp. The spring is heavy enough to hold my thick hair. You get 4 large clips and 8 small clips for $10. These are very good clips. I particularly like the combination of small and large clips. If I only want to remove a small part I use a small clip and if I want to gather all the hair I use a large clip. The feathers are good and strong and the colors are very pretty. I like that there are two sizes. The big ones are perfect for ALL my hair and the small ones are great for lifting just a bit of hair. Although my mom who has thin hair likes these little ones who can curl all her hair. Most are rubberized - hold firmly in hair - won't slip off! The shiny ones only resemble the two larger ones. all pretty standard for butterfly clips; The shape of the octopus is more cosmetic than functional. These clips have good spring and look well built, I expect them to give years of reliable service before failing.

Although my hair is medium to fine I find small clips work well for my hair. Big, not so big. With a little adjustment to how I put the claws in my hair (flipping a lazy bun), they hold the foundation well and require very little adjustment throughout the day. Big clips, they are so big and my hair is a little longer than my shoulders now. If my hair was thicker it might fit, but not now. Big problems are ok. They don't stay straight but for keeping my hair out of my face when I'm doing something they worked well. The little ones were useless for my thick, wavy hair. For those with thin hair, they will probably be great. Good color palette.
