should be for the top ring on the fuel pump.

don't be stingy and try to knock off the retaining ring with a hammer and chisel, buy the right tool you won't regret it. I couldn't believe the amount of torque it takes to unlock this ring with a broken 24" rod. I can't imagine how anyone could hit the ring with a hammer and chisel.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • don't know anymore

I had to change it to work on Silverado 2005

The ad says it works with "2004 1/2 and 3/4 ton Chevy Trucks". I had to modify it to make it work on my 2005 Silverado. As other reviewers have pointed out, I had to remove some metal from the bottom of the T-slot to fit between the gas tank and the locking ring. Otherwise it worked!

Pros
  • . Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Prong broke on second use

I've had a few issues with this product. The biggest problem is that one of the bars broke on the second use. Luckily I was only able to finish with two. Also, the pins below the attachment point were too long, making it difficult to use the tool without damaging the tank or adding extra pressure. This is the only one I've used so I don't know if it's a branding issue or if it happens to everyone. I don't want to think about having to redeem it every time I use it

Good with slight modification

Used to replace the fuel gauge in my Santa Fe 07. The tools are solid, but I had trouble getting the locking rings in and out, even with a giant pry bar. After a while I decided to follow the advice in another review and sand the legs down a bit and everything worked much better after that. The thickness of the legs seems to help maintain pressure on the retaining ring, making unlocking/locking very difficult. Overall it was good for the price, much better with a little modification.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • High price

Used to replace a faulty fuel pump/sensor assembly on my 2007 Dodge Caliber R/T. I had to replace the pump once and after many hours and much frustration I was able to put the retaining ring back on using a hammer and brass punch. However, I had a failure of another fuel pump and after playing with the retaining ring too much I ordered this one. While this is one of those tools that you won't (hopefully) use often, it's invaluable when replacing a fuel pump.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Traded in

Hours saved in wasted labor

Used on 2008 Avenger. Corrosion has fixed the ring in place. Cleaning and PB blaster didn't help. After a few hours of using the hammer and punch method, it still wouldn't budge. It got to the point where I used a hand sled, fearing I might damage the tank. It was delivered at the premiere the next day. It took a lot of strength to free him with a crowbar and a pipe extension. It was obvious that nothing else would have worked. Without damage. It made long hard work quick and easy. It also made

does the job. after some rework

After trying to remove the retaining ring without tools, I gave up and ordered a tool. I'm glad I did. Remove the locking ring with a tool in less than a minute. I used a 1/2" drive with a 24" breaker. Loosening requires a lot of torque. A note about this tool. As many other reviewers have pointed out, the tabs in this tool are too long and need to be cleared. I used a bench grinder and easily trimmed them to the correct height. Given all of these comments pointing out the problem, I'm…

Tool not pretty but with some modifications

I bought this tool to remove the retaining rings on the fuel tank of my 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe so I can replace the fuel gauges. He did his job anyway. As it was out of the box the tool did not stick to the locking rings. Every time I applied torque, one of the gripper teeth would loosen. After careful inspection I found that the slots in the tool legs were machined too high and the metal that stayed under the slots (nearly 3/16 inch) would not slide under the locking rings. Their purpose is to…

Small modification for H-Santa fe 09

Asked my wife to order this tool and Dorman 911-048 for our Hyundai Santa Fe 09 as the fuel gauge shows empty even when the tank is full and the engine light is on. The codes scanned were for fuel senders. Firstly, this tool will make your work faster and easier, but it needs a little modification. The ring opened easily, even the grooves of the tool weren't fully fixed to the ring. But the hardest part was putting it back on, it's very tight, I even cracked my Harbor Freight 25 "Prof 1/2"…

Pros
  • Test for one year
Cons
  • Disappear
