Description of πŸš› F-150 Tailgate Assist: Premium Off-Road Shock Lift Support 2015-2021

[No Drilling Required] Your truck comes from the factory ready to accept this assist. By adding a few pieces of hardware with simple hand tools. Much easier than installing the factory part where the tailgate and tail light need to be removed. [Quick Install] Because all the mounting points are already there the installation doesn't take much time at all. Just follow the instructions that come with the kit for a smooth install. [Durable parts] Zinc plated metal parts will last for years. This model passed the 150,000 cycle durability test and a 96 hour salt spray test for corrosion resistance. [Drop Rate Control] Safely control the drop rate of your tailgate. Easier on the hinges helps tailgate longevity. This is even more important with little children who want to help open the tailgate only to have it drop quickly and knock them over. [Mounts to Driver's Side] Please be sure to mount on the drivers side. Also, the shock mount connected to the shaft should connect to the tailgate while the shock mount connected to the cylinder connects to the truck bed.

Not working properly

NO. Do not buy this brand. Try another brand.1. no ez to install and uninstall2. When I pull the tailgate, it doesn't work until the tailgate is lowered a few inches3. When I hit the back door, I wish I didn't have this item installed

Not universal for spare parts

This product is not universal, can not tell how it works, could not be installed. The original screws cannot be reused and they do not come with mounting screws. The original bolt has a permanent cold pressed washer that cannot be removed on a Dodge Ram, so it cannot be reused for installation.

Cons
  • unreliable

Revainrating 1 out of 5

It was fine for a couple of weeks except for the clicking sound.

A few weeks everything was fine, except for the clapping when closing it was loud, uncomfortable and mostly awkward in parking lots. Now there is no spring retainer for mounting the upper ball joint so the shock doesn't hold at all.

Exactly what I needed best in spares

For the $20-30 I paid for it this is an excellent product. It saves me from having to control the tailgate drop when my hands are full and looks smooth and doesn't get in the way. Only time can tell how long the kick lasts but for now this is a great product that installs in 20 minutes.

Not worth it if it IS NOT

I bought this item for my F-150 and even recommended it to a friend a week ago. It has never failed in the 3 1/2 months that I have owned it, but tonight it broke several times and failed miserably. It's one of those moments where you believe in a product for weeks and then this happens. I hope I get my money back or try a new one.

Cons
  • Some errors

OK, mine makes a weird noise and jerks when lowering.

Looks good. Installation wasn't too difficult. Nice to have the included torx tool. The piston makes a strange noise and jerks when the tailgate is lowered. (yes, it turned in the right direction). The instruction photos are quite small and only moderately helpful. Maybe I'll try a different brand next time.

Cons
  • Big and chunky

Doesn't work when it's cold here in Minnesota

I liked it before the winter months and the damper gets so cold it takes a minute and a half to fully lower the tailgate. Be very careful when you press on the tailgate as this will knock out the shock absorber and stop working. Not even a year old but it doesn't work! The warranty says to call the manufacturer but of course that doesn't get me anywhere! I think I just got out of the $$$ POS

Cons
  • Not the best

Do not buy this device from this brand! Buy from another seller

Nonsense! Putting this on my new 2020 F150. I had the same from another manufacturer on my 2013 F150 and it worked great so I bought this one. This device from this vendor restricted the back door when I open or close the back door. It should not be restricted in the closing direction. After 2 weeks it bent the bracket and fell off so I returned it and bought the Dee Zee brand I bought years ago and it worked great.

Cons
  • All right
