Cheaper to buy and book another set!

So far it's been fun learning, but I'm very disappointed that you can buy the $85 starter kit and book separately for about $50 less. I'd happily invest $50 in additional sensors and other Arduino parts, but make sure you know what you're buying! Look for a different kit if you are on a budget.

Pros
  • Pretty package
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

I love Makebook - it's a really good place.

Essentially a starter kit included in the brand book. I love the make book - it's a really good place to start with the Arduino platform. Personally I think the official kit is the way to go as everything is well packaged and clearly labeled and seems to be of really high quality. I'm glad I got everything I needed in one package - that was definitely the way to go.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Socket required

I love this kit, the only thing I need.

I really like this kit, the only thing I would have to do if I had to do it again would be to buy the board and what I wanted ie more sensors, another breadboard, a set of sensors, me also bought Arduino programming power book This was my first step in learning about the simple Arduino computer, very minimal in terms of programming. My first project was to get this TFT working http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UAA2XIC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 after about 3 hours…

Great learning tool

I bought this kit because I wanted to learn about Arduino boards. All the electronic components (LEDs, resistors, switches, etc.) for the first few projects in the book are included, making it much more convenient to use than just buying a circuit board. The start-up projects are well thought out and the explanations are understandable. If I had one criticism that I don't have it would be that the kit is for teenagers and I'm an older person. But that's a very minor quibble and not a mistake at

This is the perfect set for anyone interested in electronics.

In my opinion this is the perfect kit for anyone interested in electronics to find out if they want to do it. If that had existed when I was in school, I would have chosen a different career path. Using only the parts from this kit, the included project book, and free software available on the internet (all mentioned in the book) I was able to quickly build a small dimmable LED lamp with three buttons and a Windows GUI to control and respond to. The Home Automation Proof of Concept was…

  • Excellent overall performance

Good But Not Enough - Computers and Accessories

This is a great way to learn about circuits and electricity. Everything was there and neatly packed in a box. The project book explains things very clearly and I recommend doing them. As simple as it may seem, you will learn some important techniques that you will need later. I couldn't believe how small it was. Sometimes I find it difficult to place all the wires because the breadboard is small too. I need to jump to a larger size to do more complex projects. (I added pictures so you can see…

Pros
  • Build Quality
Cons
  • Some Bugs

Now that I've done my first and third projects, they really should have swapped their graphic designer for some clarity advice from a teacher. The first and most annoying thing is that her VERY FIRST DIAGRAM is incomplete. There are so many descriptions that are incomplete in favor of really neat graphics. Why this was such a big problem is that I firmly taped the layout to the wrong side to keep track of their visual layouts (which I wish were MUCH bigger and easier to see/read), but this…
