Three stars on kettles

It doesn't whistle as promised and is therefore dangerous. Also, the inside will flake off, leaving copper stains in the water. I don't feel like I can drink water and when I do it has a metallic taste. While I had hoped that the kettle would be ok despite the reviews, unfortunately this is only for decoration.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Unreliable

We bought this (like new used) model knowing it was tarnished. BUT I suspect why it was returned in the first step because the weld at the spout is leaking! Now the hassle of returns etc etc WOW I got a replacement and the handle is broken on the new one.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • Discontinued

Great. Just wonderful. I use it every day to make my morning tea. Pro tip: since this is real copper, it needs to be polished regularly (I polish mine about every two weeks as I use it every day, sometimes multiple times a day) so make sure you have a copper polish with you , when you get them to make it look its best!

A nice looking teapot, but at least it's made.

Lovely teapot - but although made ready to use it is poorly finished and I can only use it for decoration for 2 days. The inner silver coating is peeling off and rusting after 1 week and now the rust has spread to the tea and oatmeal. I would have liked this teapot if it had been of better quality. Had high hopes but for $50. I have to say I hate buying it.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Unfashionable

Bad reviews are no exaggeration

I wanted to like this kettle but it turned out to be more trouble than it was worth. The welds around the spout are not secure, so there will be leaks when filling the pot while cooking. The white/blue ceramic tip is glued on, not screwed on, so won't fit properly, and if the glue comes loose you won't be able to remove the tip without pliers. The screw itself is glued into the case which is then glued into the cap so you can't even unscrew it to try and get a better glue. I give up; it was a…

Don't buy from Old Dutch!

The entire inside of the kettle that was sent to me was not tinned but coppered with a permanent green coating. It can be toxic if consumed by humans. I emailed the company and called to no avail. I thought it might be a manufacturing defect and sent it back for a new one. They sent a new one and it wasn't tin plated either. This one also came with a broken lid. The top of the lid was connected with a screw glued to the porcelain. This is a nice kettle, but it's neither functional nor safe to…

Cute little teapot

Cute little teapot. The first one I got leaked around the spout when I boiled water in it the second time, but they sent me a replacement which I received within a few days and it didn't leak. Make sure you have a copper cleaner with you as you will need to clean it after boiling the kettle a few times. I bought Wright's copper cream which does the job very easily. I was surprised how long it takes for a kettle to boil on an electric stove. Copper is an excellent conductor of heat, which is why
