Beautiful, high quality

Beautiful teapot. It's quite large and quite spectacular on my stovetop. I wash, dry and polish copper once a week. There were no stains on the outside. The stainless steel handle doesn't get hot when the kettle is in use as some other reviews state.

  • Large and bulky

Too big, unstable handle

I bought an old Dutch DuraCopper Callisto kettle, 3.1 liter. / 3.0L. This proved to be too much for the effort required. When pouring hot liquids from the kettle, the handle allows the kettle to move from side to side with a potential risk of burns. Although the teapot is quite attractive, I think there are risks associated with its use. I sent this one back on credit.

Maybe not for a gas stove?

This is a large size and looks great at first but will fade over time. We bought this because of the material that needed to keep its color and finish. We've had it for over a year now and it's still like new inside, but it's very ugly on the outside. You can see in the picture. My only guess is that we have a gas range and an open flame may have damaged the exterior surface. So if you have an electric stove, this might not happen. Otherwise it's great.

  • Great fit for me

Finally found a decent teapot

Who would have thought that finding a decent teapot would be so difficult! This (Callisto 3.1 Quarts / 3.0L) is made of durable stainless steel and is decent—no plastic, aluminum, or rust stains. Hard filled - you have to pour with two hands. It's also difficult to water the last bit. However, it looks great, works on an induction hob, is easy to clean and stays shiny. A whistle is enough, and the whistle, fin and handle of the cauldron stay cold after boiling. BTW, mine says it's made in…

Beautiful, functional, love it.

I love this kettle very much. It looks fantastic left on the stovetop all the time. I drink tea every morning so it's important that it looks nice and isn't put aside. I also like the handle to open and close during pouring - no need to open with a fork or hot pad. The whistle is loud and quite deep so it doesn't pierce your ears like some of the ones I've had in the past. However, it's still noisy. The size is great too. I like a wider, flatter base so the flame hits it well and doesn't go…

Beautiful and functional

This teapot is so pretty! I bought it primarily as a decorative item but have used it for tea a few times. Easy filling through spout or covered area. It heats up quickly using my stove's super cook option. You can't just pick up this kettle with your bare hands when it's hot. The handle is metal, so you need to take a rag. This was an issue for some reviewers, but since I'm more interested in how the product looks, it's not an issue if I use it occasionally. Just keep this fact in mind before…

Strange chemical smell after 2.5 years

This teapot is the best I've ever had! Not only beautiful design, but also holds a large volume of water if required and heats 6-8 cups of water in 3 minutes on our induction stove. The handle and retractable spout stay completely cool and the whistle works great. Easy to clean! Simply wipe with a damp microfiber cloth. We use 1-2 times a day for a month until it fades. I love it! I add an addendum to my review. After running this kettle flawlessly for 2 1/2 years we noticed a black residue…

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Looks like there are several different DuraCopper shell reviews in one place. So as far as that goes - I really like it, but there are two caveats to keep in mind. Although the plastic handle has never been set on fire it still gets pretty hot as others have said. You could do better with this design. I also need a whistling kettle. I walk around the house for a bit, start the water, then go check other things and (unfortunately) forget. This is a very quiet kettle. :-) But the two times I've…
