🌶️ Olde Thompson Pepper Mill: A Compact, 2.6 Ounce Capacity Spice Grinder Review

I like the grinder itself. Mainly glass and metal construction, with ceramic for the grinding element even with minimal use of plastic. My biggest criticism is the packaging. The box it comes in is made entirely of plastic. For a product sold today, using so much single-use plastic is unacceptable. I would have gotten a much better grade if the packaging had been more sustainable.

I BUY THIS FOR ROUGH HIMALAYAN SALT. THIS IS PERFECT FOR THIS USE. THE PREVIOUS BROKEN OR SIMPLY NOT WORKING. THANKS TO THE METAL STRUCTURE OF THE MILK, IT IS EFFICIENT AND GREAT THE SALT PRECISELY. I LOVE IT. I ALSO HAVE AN OLD THOMPSON PEPPER GRINDER THAT I HAVE HAD FOR YEARS SO I CHOOSE THIS ITEM. IT'S NOT AS HIGH LIKE MY OLD PEPPER GRINDER WHICH I LIKE SO THEY COMPLETE EACH OTHER BUT IT WORKS WELL TOO.

Olde Thompson is the only brand worth buying when you need a reliable salt and pepper grinder that will give a consistent fine or coarse grind. My daughter bought a similar set from a different manufacturer. They were cheaper and useless. I bought her this set and I know she loves them. I have 3 wooden ones. Brown for black peppercorns, natural for white peppercorns, and light brown for peppercorn blends. You have never let me down.

I have the same meat grinder a few years ago. I didn't have the receipt or I would have claimed the lifetime warranty. So I bought a new one. This one is made in China and cheap quality. Details are thinner, weigh less, plastic. The grinding is not as smooth as before. Switch to cheap labor in China for corporate profits and jeopardize brand heritage. I will definitely keep my receipt so I have a warranty on this unit if it fails.

These are my favorite pepper grinders, they also have salt grinders to match, much cleaner than a floor grinder which picks up little mounds of salt or pepper when you lower it. ! I also like having a glass bottom so I know when to fill it. The grinders are easily adjusted from coarse to very fine, and the attachments keep the grinders clean. Although they proved to be quite durable, I had to replace one that had fallen onto the stone walkway on the way from the lake shore back to the kitchen!

I love Olde Thompson Mills! I bought a set of Bavaria salt and pepper mills! Pepper mill mechanism is no longer made of steel!? I previously bought a Bavaria pepper mill! Peppermill mechanism for this purchase in No Longer Steel!?Although the peppermill packaging said it was carbon steel - my old Bavaria peppermill has a steel grinder! !I would give 5 stars if the mechanism of the pepper mill was the same as before (carbon steel) !I could return the new ceramic mill pepper mill for a refund !

We love our ground pepper! It has an easy setting for coarse or fine grinding, making it easy to transfer from person to person in our extended family. No pepper precipitation as you are installing it "upside down" by design. That can be annoying if you want the freshly ground pepper to stay strictly on the ground, but we didn't care. Love it! Sleek, well made and works. It's so nice that the container is actually glass and not the plastic Olde Thompson often uses in their products. My only real gripe is that it doesn't grind the peppers enough, and grinding the course takes some effort. In addition, the quantity produced is limited. I guess now you can say I'm a pepper freak! They look great on the table though, and I have a much more expensive pepper mill that I use for serious pepper work! They work great for most people.

I bought two - one for pepper and one for sea salt in a heavy use kitchen. They suited my aesthetic and both worked great... for a couple of weeks. The one used for sea salt stopped working once my return expired. I emptied it, looked at it and just don't see any reason why it should stop grinding. They sent me a salt shaker full of pepper. Salt grinders usually have ceramic grinders (like this one), pepper grinders have stainless steel or carbon steel grinders (like advertised). I have sent an exchange and am hoping to receive the correct item. I have one of these grinders that I have owned for about 7 years and (with the stainless steel grinder) it is amazing.
