Good lens good price

mZD14-150 is a good travel lens but always comes at a high price. Minor wear on the lens but don't complain about the dollars saved. The lens offers good image quality, and with a 10.7x zoom, there is no need to change lenses during recording, which helps to capture the right moment. It focuses quickly (not as far as the new lenses announced with the E-P3) and works much better than the standard zoom that came with my E-PL1. The lens came without a lens hood, but I can use my old ZD14-42. hood…

Pros
  • Very fast delivery
Cons
  • Not the best

An excellent lens that delivers sharp images throughout the zoom range and eliminates the need to change lenses frequently (which was the main reason for purchasing this lens). In my experience, the best results are achieved by keeping the shutter speed at or above 1/500 when the lens is extended (although my camera gives a stable image), and to achieve this I increase the ISO setting. It's not a problem for me, just something to be aware of and that's the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars and…

Too compromised for my liking

Superzooms are inherently compromised and this lens is no different. If you're looking for a touring lens to take on holiday then it will serve you well (although at f/4-5.6 it requires decent light). Image quality isn't BAD, and it's not bad in some parts of the focal range. But at the end of the telephoto end, the edges soften and I prefer telephoto to standard and wide. If you know what you're getting into and are willing to compromise, this lens could have a place in your . But if you want…

Great lens! fits camera lenses

I have to admit this review should have been written a few years ago when I bought this lens. I put it on my Olympus EPL-1 and it stays there all the time unless I'm using a fisheye lens. I have a 14-42mm roller zoom and a 40-150mm zoom, but they offer no advantage in image quality over the subject of this review. This is not a fast lens, but there is no fast superzoom anyway. Overall this is a great travel zoom and has actually traveled with me a lot in many places. Light weight, good range…

Excellent value for money

I bought this lens with an Olympus PEN E-PL1 for a safari in Tanzania. While I loved my film SLR and lens collection, it didn't fit the trip (film and lens changes in clouds of dust, airport X-rays and nearly 2,000 exposures) so I had to go digital with a single zoom lens. . I decided to buy a Micro Four Thirds system instead of a DSLR, hoping that the compromise between sensor size, weight and price would be good. Total cost was about $1100 ($500 for the camera (with 14-32 lens), $600 for the…

Excellent easy wide range zoom

First a note on some of the qualities that other reviewers have attributed to this lens. Focusing the lens is primarily the job of the body contrast detection system, not the lens. The part where the lens comes into play is the focus motor and focus elements. Complaints about slow focusing are mostly related to the contrast-detection system (DSLRs use a phase-detection system, which works faster). However, I think this is sufficient for most recordings. If you want to shoot faster, point your…
