This is the second Olympus WS-822 recorder that I own. I used the first one for many years before it "broke" - the USB plug stopped working. I use it to record my speeches. It picks up my voice perfectly and picks up the voices of other people in the room (the size of a classroom) very well. It's so convenient that I can just plug it into my laptop and then save my files. The playback sound quality is fuzzy when using the speaker, but perfect when I plug in headphones.
