Quality replacement cable

The cable is ideal for replacing a broken cable on a 1979 Jeep CJ5. The speedometer shows exactly, without "arrow stroke".

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Damaged

Required modifications

All these non-original cables should be reduced by 2/8-3/8 thousand tons. When installing, connect the transmission first, then connect the reduced end to the odometer. Don't overtighten or the needle will get stuck.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Vulgarity

That speedometer wire didn't go 2 miles.

This speedometer cable has not driven 2 miles, I had that many on a test drive. The cable appeared to have been pulled somewhere in the middle, causing the speedometer to never rotate and the end attached to the transfer case becoming a bunch of twisted and broken cables.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

I bought it for my 1980 Jeep CJ7 4.

I bought this for my 1980 Jeep CJ7 4.2L with Tremec T-176 transmission. It fitted the sensor block perfectly, but the other end had a different thread to attach it to the gearbox. It's also a few inches shorter than the cable it replaces, resulting in a very sharp bend at the attachment point.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • So-so

Excellent product.: Speedometer cable

This cable worked perfectly. Be sure to lubricate it with white lithium grease. I used the WD-40 version. Remove the cable from the grommet, spray some lube on it and reinsert the cable. I left it on both ends for a few minutes and then drained the excess fat. As a result, the speedometer is smooth without bouncing. Excellent goods.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Functionality

Good price, good fit

Fits my 1981 CJ5 perfectly. I took off a star because the speedo jumps a bit between 15 and 25 mph. I suspect the cable is rubbing something inside the case that is causing this. I put a very thin coat of white lithium grease down the length of the cable prior to installation, but it still jumps a bit. It's not enough that you don't know how fast you're moving, it's enough to be a little annoying. All this to say that at this price I would buy it again.

Pros
  • Heavy duty
Cons
  • Compatibility
