Description of ๐Ÿ“ท The Ultimate Telephoto Zoom Lens for Sony Alpha A-Mount Digital SLR Cameras

ADVANCED OPTICS: Featuring an optimized design, this lens uses a series of 6 optical glass elements (one SD super-low dispersion) in 5 groups to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the aperture range. A high definition anti-reflective coating suppresses lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity. SUPER ZOOM: 650-1300mm or 1300-2600mm with the 2x converter, this lens is not only a superb long range choice, but also performs well in a variety of scenes from sports and surveillance to lunar shots. SOLID CONSTRUCTION: Full metal body and rear mount allow this lens to withstand wear and tear much better than plastic lenses while commanding a rugged, solid feel when using. MANUAL FOCUSING: This lens has preset f-stops that correspond with the focal length at which you are shooting. An index for distance and diaphragm scale is inscribed on the lens barrel to coordinate focal length and aperture. COMPATIBILITY: Can be used on all Sony A-Mount APS-C and full frame cameras including A99V, A99, A77, A68, A65, A58, A57, A55, A37, A35, A33, A900, A700, A580, A560, A550, A390, A380, A330, A290 and other A-Mount Digital Cameras.

Outstanding quality for the price.

We bought an Opteka lens to photograph bald eagles and other wildlife. We were surprised by the ease of use and image quality for two amateurs.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Almost the size of a telescope

This lens is a bit bigger than I expected but still comes with all the necessary accessories (T-mount for my camera, 2x multiplier, lens hood and adjustable tripod mount) . I'll try to upload a photo. This lens actually worked with my Sony a57 set to manual modes on a non-Sony lens.

Fantastic moon shots

I just bought a 24.3 megapixel Sony Alpha 65 camera and used a 70-300mm Sigma lens to photograph the moon. After cropping, I have nice, clear shots of the moon, but no close-up shots of any specific area. I bought this lens and used it for the first time on March 4th, 2012 and got amazing pictures straight away. I started at 650mm to get used to the lens and ended up at 2600 with sharp and crisp images. I couldn't be happier with the lens. For the money this is fantastic!

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Damaged

The eclipse absolutely nailed it!

I ordered this lens for the 2017 solar eclipse and it did not disappoint. I have not and have not yet used the 2x extension. At 1300mm I was honestly stunned by the photos and video of sunspots, Bailey beads and solar flares. Simply fantastic photos! The product description doesn't include Sony mirrorless cameras like the a6000, but it worked great with the right T-ring adapter. When examining other possible lenses, it turned out that they have serious problems with focusing. This lensโ€ฆ

Long, heavy and sharp

This is for T* mount, Opteka 650-1300mm lens with 2x converter. Only limited usable, but. The weight and size make this lens very difficult to handle. A tripod mount is sufficient to hold an object, but at this distance from the mount it has such a large mass that the lens has enormous angular momentum; it will rotate and loosen or overtighten the retainer unless extreme care is used. This setting makes it extremely unlikely that you will ever successfully fire at a moving or moving targetโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks
