Works great with 32GB SDHC card with Fujitsu ST5032D

I ordered this adapter and two different SD to IDE converters for older laptops to see which ones 3 I would prefer and this is the only one that worked with a 32GB Sony SDHC Class 10 card in a Fujitsu ST5032D. Because it was the only thing that worked in it, I haven't tried it in anything else, it worked, so it stayed. Copied a previous installation of Windows from a failed hard drive to a 32GB SDHC card connected to another adapter using 2 USB IDE laptop adapters and Mini Tool Drive Copy. With

About 25 Mbps. There are no installation features.

Just finished testing on multiple devices using a 32GB Exceria Type 2 SDHC1 memory card. Shipping took a while. The SD card I'm using here is surprisingly good, reading at over 90MB/s and writing at 60MB/s from a USB 3.0 device on a fast computer. This is much faster than typical PATA-era hard drives. Will this be the final solution for a cheap PATA SSD? The first test was carried out on a normal PC and via a passive converter from 40 to 44 pins. The maximum transfer rates I've seen here are…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Okay, first of all the adapter is the most popular when it comes to speed. It uses a KTC FC1307A SD-to-IDE bridge/controller chip (developed around 2007 according to the datasheet), which means your maximum transfer rate is limited to 25MB/s. This may sound low to you (your average Sandisk Ultra 1/Ultra 3 cards can often run at 50-80MB/s), but remember that these adapters are typically used to spin 4200rpm mechanical hard drives replace, whose maximum speed is often between 17 and 25 MB. /sec…

I used this with a combination of IDE HDD 44.

I used it in combination with a 44 by 40 pin IDE hard drive (2.5-3.5 inch IDE drive) as a hard drive replacement for my PS2. It was more convenient, used less power, and generated less heat than a real hard drive that would be compatible with a PS2 network adapter (the network adapter has an IDE interface). The SD card adapter also reads faster than any real hard drive in my PS2. Since I'm using a read-only hard drive, I don't have to worry about SD card wear and tear.

  • Constant test results

Power failure Erases the contents of the SD card

I really wanted to like this thing, but unfortunately I didn't get any productive use from it. I tried this with 3 different SD cards of different sizes (64GB, 16GB, 2GB) and on 3 different computers (Pentium, Pentium 2, Pentium 3). All lead to the same result. The "Active" LED on the adapters will be solid when the power is on. Computers recognize the adapter and can communicate with the media. The layout and formatting initially work flawlessly. The installation of the operating system also…

Simple, clear and fast adapter

. Not many reviews here. I just wanted to make a small note on the performance of this particular 44-pin SD card adapter. Like many of you, I used it to fix a retro laptop; in this case Dell C640. It was paired with an existing V60 rated SD card from my deck. I get consistently 25 megabytes per second reading and 23 megabytes per second writing with this adapter in a C640 running Windows 98SE (after everything is set up). The last similar article I used on another retro repair showed speeds of…

Power failure erases the memory card.

Card worked fine when I installed it in HP TC1100 and 64GB mSD card and adapter. Turned the system off overnight. The next morning I tried to boot and the card was erased, no OS. Will come back for a refund, waste of time. Update: I bought the microSD version of this adapter and had a similar experience installing Linux. But with this adapter I was able to leave Grub in "root" instead of "MBR" and the card survived the power outage just fine. I don't know if this is a problem with all adapters…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • So far so good

Great for creating a cheap SSD solution for legacy devices

As SD card prices continue to fall, this is a great alternative to classic CF IDE solutions. At first I wasn't sure how it would work. , I've always chosen CF since CF is basically an IDE and works transparently, but this device has worked great in the device I've used it in and now effortlessly offers a ton of cheap SSD storage. to tell which way to put the thing in the IDE slot. Be careful or you will fry something if you turn it over. I will definitely use it instead of CF-IDE in the future.

Pros
  • A dream come true

  • unreliable

New life for old laptops (Apple and PC)

This product met my expectations in two different ways. The first one I ordered was part of the old Apple iBook Clamshell M2453 series, the first generation that came in blueberry. Aside from being a tedious laptop to disassemble, this little guy connected with no issues. The iBook booted from the system CD, Disk Utility found it, initialized it, and began installing the operating system. Since then I have installed many applications on my laptop without any problems. There's a slight (but…
