Good old throttle

After numerous failures with new throttles I've replaced them with this tried and true setup. grinding wheel. DO NOT attempt to cut the cable or sleeve with wire cutters. Hope that helps.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Insecure

I had to drill two new holes, no big deal.

High frequency motor on the deck of a vintage Lowes mower. Lowe's Plastic Garbage Cable. That METAL! Had to drill two new holes in the handle and also do an L crimp on the end of the cable to copy the other, it was done in about 20 minutes and beers.

Ideal for new tiller motor.

I put a new motor in my old Troy Bilt "Horse" tiller. The existing throttle cable was not long enough to be used on the new engine. I saw another review that mentioned using this cable for the same application. The cable fit perfectly, was just the right length and works like a charm. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Big and chunky

To adapt a harbor cargo motor to a horse tiller

This cable is long enough to be used as a replacement for the standard cable on a Troy Bilt horse tiller when the tiller is reconnected to a Harbor Freight 212 motor cube . Because the gas connection exits the engine end of the recoil starter, you will need a longer cable than the one originally supplied with the tiller. Equal spacing between mounting holes simplifies installation.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Quality

That works great. This is a high quality, smooth running cable

Bought this to need to replace a choke control cable on a 1970's garden tractor. I wanted to keep the same lever but all I needed was a steel cable. It was the cheapest cable I could find, but it came with a lever. When I got it I removed the lever, trimmed it, made a Z-bend and installed it. That works great. This is a good quality cable with a smooth ride. I wish I knew where to buy a cable without buying a control arm.

Pros
  • Great price

I thought it was too tight to move the lever. I was wrong.

When I pulled this cable out of the box, I tried to move the handle and thereby move the cable. I couldn't do it at all while holding it in my hand. I went ahead and installed it, then tried moving the handle. Now it was smooth and with enough friction to keep it right where I put it. I had to trim it as it was too long for my application. After cutting I connected the other end to the carburetor and viola, now I can control the speed of my mower again. Good quality and I will most likely throw

Pros
  • I finally bought it
Cons
  • There are flaws

Replaced a faulty throttle body in my 30 year old mower

See attached photo of the throttle body installed on my mower. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but it's very functional. Comments: - the duct was of good quality, the throttle slides well in it - you have to trim it to fit, it was easy, pull back the throttle cable, cut the tubing and reinsert the control cable. Simply. - Adjustable "resistance" on the throttle grip. You can loosen or tighten the lock nut to increase tension to keep it in place as desired. Good Feature Overall, theโ€ฆ

Fantastic results - great design.

Ugly, but it gets the job done. It's really well made and has some nice design features. Won't win any aesthetic awards, but in terms of functionality and (expected) durability I'm not sure you can beat that. What I really liked is the amount of control that you can customize to suit your application. The "trailer" (resistance) is adjustable, the length of the rope is adjustable, as is the total throw. Having a coiled metal sleeve was perfect for my application - the last one I bought, anโ€ฆ

Installation completed with a Z-Dog Leg Wire Retainer - https

No awards for aesthetics, but unbeatable functionality! After a second handle assembly failure on a Craftsman My Stride mower that uses a lever bar encased in a brittle plastic handle, it's time to rip it all out and find another throttle solution. That was it! The cord is slightly longer than a standard lawnmower cord, but it takes up the slack by routing it through the top of the handle (as shown). Shortening the cable is most likely possible, but I didn't want to mess with it, and the finalโ€ฆ
