Annoying that you can't turn down the warning volume

The radio seems to work as intended and has already warned us about bad weather this season. However, it is very annoying that you cannot turn down the volume of the current alarm. Oregon Scientific's earlier weather radio made this possible through a human. I can understand that the default volume is high when the alarm goes off, but you should be able to turn it off! The only workaround is to disable the alert, which defeats the whole purpose of a weather radio.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • boring packaging

This is a good device to own

This is a good device to own. I can press a button to listen to my local station and see the sea weather in another area. Where I live there is a national weather broadcast every Wednesday to make sure the unit is in good working order. Morning. I first bought this device from a local shop in 2010 and it worked very well until the device flew off the edge of a window. So with this new device I glued the bar. This device warned me about hurricanes, wind speeds, blizzards. This is a good buy…

Pros
  • a handy thing
Cons
  • Legacy model

We've had a WR601 weather radio for years but it turns on so loudly during a weather alert that its speaker is broken. I've ordered a WR601N to replace it and while I had some trouble setting it up I think it will perform just as well as our old one. This radio is no longer in production but some are still available at a very good price. However, you cannot register the radio because Oregon Scientific is no longer located at the address provided on the registration form. This weather radio is…

Decent radio in Weather Radios

I've had it for a year now and overall I like it. He sits in the kitchen and does his job, as befits a weather radio. Just a few quirks I don't like about this model: 1) To stop hearing the alarm, you press a button at the top that permanently disables the radio. You have to press twice more to put it back to standby. It's terrible. We therefore missed the tornado warning today, this button was probably pressed by mistake. It needs a "snooze" mode to turn off the current alert, then it should…

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

So far so good Weather radios

I only bought this radio to go hiking in bad weather. I read many reviews on the different radios that Revain sell before deciding on this one. I only received it this week, so I can't vouch for durability yet. But set up was a lot easier than some reviews suggest. Due to the detailed explanation of the SAME codes in the user manual, the programming was a bit confusing at first. You really don't need to know all that. Just ignore all the explanations, follow the prompts to put the radio into…

Not as good as the old version of this radio.

I have an old version of this radio. It worked well for me for several years and when I needed another I bought the same model. Oregon made a few changes that I think really hurt the radio. Firstly, the volume is FULL LOUD during the warning and the volume cannot be turned down like my old one. Since this radio sits on the nightstand right next to my bed (and head), I get VERY annoying when it wakes me up with an alarm at night. Second, they dimmed the flashing light that indicates the radio is

Oregon Scientific WR601N Weather Radio

I have had the Oregon Scientific WR601N Portable Weather Radio for about 11 years and it has worked flawlessly the entire time. When it finally stopped working, I had no other thought than to order a newer version of the same product, namely the WR601N. I'm only using the radio as an internal device to warn of severe thunderstorms that can cause high winds, possible tornadoes and/or hail, which we get occasionally here in Florida, so I can't comment on its portability. What I can say is that…
