Great value, great coco coir!

Oh what a great deal on these! They're very good at retaining moisture and are quite ideal for using it as a casing for mushroom growing. They're super hard, though. They need a good soak in boiling water in a big bucket for 12 - 24 hours. Hard to cut in half unless you have some kind of saw.

Pros
  • 8 x 4 x 2.5 inches
Cons
  • Can create a lot of dust during transport and application

Perfect for rooting fig cuttings!

After watching a video on rooting figs using coco coir I bought this brick and added water until it was lightly moist as directed. I added my fig cuttings horizontally and put the lid on my plastic container. At three weeks the cuttings had sufficient roots were ready to plant in potting soil. Excellent product, did exactly what I needed it to do. Will use this in the future for my cuttings.

Pros
  • The coco pith is easy to use and store when not in use
Cons
  • Can be costly to ship long distances

Excellent for my Airhead compost toilet

I have used a lot of different brands of coco coir bricks in my Airhead compost toilet, but these are by far the best. Their absorption while rehydrating with water is very impressive compared to most, and there is not a lot of long fibers like many others. They would have rated 5 stars but I find them a bit expensive.

Pros
  • Coco pith effectively retains water, reducing the need for watering, making it perfect for those who travel frequently
Cons
  • Can take a long time to break down and decompose

A better processing method.

There is a difference in coconut coir - mainly in how it's presented (small or large bricks), how quickly it absorbs water when being rehydrated, and how friable it is (easy to break apart) after rehydration.Coco Bliss is the good stuff. It gets A pluses in all those categories.I'm not a gardener. I use coconut coir for a composting toilet. Prior to this purchase (of 5 smaller bricks), I had purchased a single large brick from a different supplier. It was cheaper, and I figured it could be cut…

Pros
  • Coco pith promotes healthy root development
Cons
  • Can be difficult to store long-term

Better than many coir bricks

I am a big advocate of using coconut coir. Unfortunately, it went through a popularity trend a few years back. This has led to higher prices and less quality. I used to be able to buy coconut coir at my local big box for 3 - 5 dollars for 2.5 cu. Now I can't find 2.5 cu that is affordable. Very sad. anyway, I decided to try this brand due to reviews saying that it has less foreign/non coconut objects. The bricks are densely packed and re-hydrated pretty well. I did find a few large pieces of…

Pros
  • The coco pith helps retain moisture, promoting healthy hydration for your plants
Cons
  • Can produce a lot of dust during application

Coco Coir Brick: my feedback

I tried these bricks for my worm composting bin. This is the first time I've ordered this particular brand and loved them. 1 brick expanded much more than I thought it would. They dissolved easily and better yet my worms loved it! Will definitely buy these again.

Pros
  • Coco Bliss
Cons
  • May be too rich in nutrients for some plants

Great for succulents and sowing seeds!

Great product that I continue to buy and use on a regular basis. I grow succulents to sell, particularly Madagascar Palms, Adenias, Adeniums, and others, and I sow the seeds in coco coir. There is no fungus or dampening off. Once they get a few months old, I transfer them into a sterile mix of coco coir, chicken grit and and a small amount of cactus mix. They thrive! Perfect for plan

Pros
  • The product is consistent in quality and performance
Cons
  • Can cause root rot if left too wet

Solid stuff in my review

It has a chemical smell to it but i suspect it's either from the buffer solution, or mothballs used for storage and these absorb the odor. either way it's no big deal as my garden loved it! I would say this is quality coco, no garbage mixed in that i had to pick out, easy to handle just add water and break it up.100% buying again.

Pros
  • Just as described
Cons
  • Can increase the risk of fungal growth if left too wet

Great idea molding them as regular sized bricks

Not only I don't have to fiddle with a gigantic block and then think of how to use it all up at once, these bricks are easy to "expand" in a bucket. Very convenient and at a comparable to other manufacturers price per pound.

Pros
  • Coco pith is naturally resistant to pests and diseases
Cons
  • Can be difficult to clean up spills or messes

Perfect for a Composting Toilet.

We use this in the composting toilet in our RV. The first time I bought Coco Coir, I bought it in a huge block. I saved money, but these blocks are so much easier to use since they are already cut up.To make things easy on yourself, get some big Ziploc bags. The day before you change out the Coco Coir in your toilet, put a brick in a bag along with some water. By the next day, the water will have been absorbed, and the Coco Coir will be much easier to break up.

Pros
  • Organic Coco Bliss is perfect for hydroponics and aquaponics setups
Cons
  • Can attract slugs and snails due to the moisture content

A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY

I didn't think I would use more than 1 brick of this product, but have used all in short period of time. The only way it will work is to soak in water until able to pull apart with hands. Crumbles easily in hand & I like the fact that it is compact enough to store until needed & one brick goes a long way. I have planted my desert roses & begonia's in it with very little if any potting soil. Definitely will buy again if needed.Oh, it didn't smell at all to me = reason for 5 star.

Pros
  • The product is easy to store and transport
Cons
  • Not suitable for plants that require a more clay-like soil

Very good natural plant fiber,

Very good natural plant fiber, mixed in the garden soil, can increase the permeability of the soil, you can grow vegetables and flowers, just soak it in water for five minutes, it does not feel much swelling.

Pros
  • This product promotes healthy plant growth and development
Cons
  • May not be suitable for plants that require a more sandy soil

So far so good - More review to come

As title says, so far so good. About my pictures:Pic 1 is just showing the package the product was received in.Pic 2 is showing 5 bricks were received and were individually wrapped in plastic packaging.Pic 3 is just to show I weighed each brick using a this precision nutrition scale.Pic 4 is showing the weight of the heaviest brick.Pic 5 is showing the weight of the lightest brick. The total weight of all bricks combined came out to be 118.8 ounces or 7.425 lbs. So this particular box of…

Pros
  • Organic Coco Bliss minimizes the use of synthetic fertilizers
Cons
  • May require additional bulk additives for optimal plant growth

Quality fell dramatically!

I have purchased and used this product several times. I've used it for grow medium for plants and fruiting medium for mushrooms. Always produced a nice fluffy mix. The last batch I got is much darker and doesn't rehydrate well at all. I've had to break it up by hand even after 24 hours. It also is only absorbing about 1/2 the water I'm used to.I had actually set this up on subscription because I liked it so much.and have now cancelled after my first subscription delivery. Very disappointed

Pros
  • It is an ideal alternative to traditional potting soils
Cons
  • May require frequent watering in hot and dry climates

This bulk load of 50 Coco Coir Bricks is one of the best I have ever used. My previous favorite brand discontinued production, and I was forced to research other brands in an attempt to find one that matched or exceeded the quality and ease of use of my previous brand. I found it.and it exceeded my expectations by a long shot! The product comes in manageable bricks, rather than the large 5-10lb packed coir of most brands. That makes it extremely easy to work with and to expand only as much as…

Pros
  • This product is convenient for growers who want a low-maintenance solution
Cons
  • Not effective at reducing soil compaction
