Wonderful blanket for year round use

This is not our first purchase of a Vellux blanket. The first 2 we owned lasted many years. That's one of the reasons we bought another one. Unsurpassed in warmth and softness, Vellux duvets are also lightweight. They are suitable for several seasons - keep you warm but not too hot. Purchased as a queen size, this duvet offers good coverage in both the length and width. Vellux washes like a dream. Retains its shape and softness through multiple washes and tumble dry without shrinking.

Pros
  • Easy to wash
Cons
  • Embarrassing

DO NOT DO THAT! Best of Bed Duvets

I had my first vellux duvet for about 8 or 9 years when it finally started to pill in the wash. So I bought another one less than a year ago. Our Georgia winters are pretty warm, so he doesn't spend much time in bed. Even before the first wash, I noticed that some of the "pillings" or pieces of flakes were falling off. It went to the wash today, cold wash/cold rinse, and I couldn't believe the amount of flock just peeled off the base. It goes in the trash and I'm looking for something else…

Velvety/fluffy good for bedding

I didn't have the problems described by others. At first there was a very very slight smell when my face was close to the ceiling but it went away. Washed a few times, even in a heated dryer, no problems. The only disappointment is that it's not the super intense color that my old one was (I think it was called "Blueberry"), this one is grayer. You can't compare it to anything either, after all a fairly deeply saturated blue color. It's pretty bright on its own, but I was hoping for the deep…

Pros
  • No pilling - best
Cons
  • No automatic

Very disappointed - do not recommend

If you've ever had a Vellux comforter you know how thick and soft it was - it's not the original comforter. First I opened the plastic bag and the first thing I saw was a hole - in one place there was no herd. Even without taking it out of the box, I saw that it was really thin and the fibers were completely different from the original. Do you remember thick plush fibers? Well, now it's just thin, spiky flocked fabric. You know those cheap bows you see on spiky Christmas velvet? Here is the…

Poor quality, started breaking right away

After the sheet was washed before use, it found a way to absorb every ounce of lint in the dryer. I thought I just got used to it. About a week later I washed it again which resulted in even more dirt building up all over the sheet. Not wanting to continue sleeping on a bed that looked like it had been made by a madman, I tried washing and drying it again. No improvements. I gave up on the fact that the washing machine could help my sheets look cleaner and attempted to manually remove the dirt…
