The ethernet port on my iMac went down and I didn't want to pay a huge repair bill and let my computer crash for a long time. So this Ethernet to USB 3.0 adapter seemed like a good gamble - and it was! Everything was just plug and play and an internet speed test shows that everything is running at a good speed. No installation problems, no drivers, no adjustments to the settings - everything works and is inexpensive. Very glad to have found this!

Use a Wi-Fi adapter which should have helped with my Wi-Fi issues but the hard drive that came with it was also small for my CD drive and it didn't read it, so it wasn't possible to set up this device. So it is not known if it works. It also says up to 1200 Mbps here, but what I got in the mail says up to 800 Mbps for a 5G signal and less than 2G, so the description above should say up to 800, NOT 1200.

I teach on a Chromebook with OS. It was very slow, transferring around 42Mbps wirelessly. Connect this adapter to an RJ 45 port or a router and the average speed is 110Mbps. A wired connection is always better than a wireless one. When I come back to class I will be using 2 computers and both will be connected to the network while the students will be consuming Wi-Fi bandwidth. High latency and latency training are painful, so this device is a godsend. Just plug and play and voila! 5 Stars.
