A much needed accessory for the Osprey drinking chamber.

I take my daughter for walks and she usually pulls the bite valve over dirt, creek, rocks, you name it. It won't surprise you to know that the first bite valve didn't leak all over the body. When it came time to order a new one, it showed up as "frequently purchased". Ideal. Does exactly what it's supposed to, easy for a six year old to use and sure to keep the replacement bite valve working for a long time.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Unthinking

Stupid extra but necessary purchase, and not even a snug fit

First off, it's ridiculous that you HAVE to buy this separately for the Osprey hydration reservoir if you want one - so they don't come with you don't just sell them to people who need to replace them. Second, it doesn't fit properly, causing it to fall off, rub against clothing, or make you move in the wrong direction. Maybe another brand would be a better fit, but this requires bringing everything to the store to try, so I'll probably just go with this one.

Does the job, loose fit

I hesitated between 4 or 5 stars. What got it 4 stars is that it's a bit too big and I would have preferred a tighter lid, especially living here on the sand. The looseness provides space for the sand to fall off. However, once installed it will reduce the amount of sand getting on the valve, which is what I originally wanted. Easy to install, looks good, is well made, does pretty much what it's designed to do and doesn't even let the cat chew on the bite valve.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Speed

I wouldn't have made the trip without him!

You can't beat this product. First Osprey unquestionably supports everything they do. Photo of product in clear packaging showing it has never been used B. Bite valve (sold separately)C. Cover (sold separately) I can't tell you the number of times I've been on the trail, dropped my pack and covered my mouth in mud. This solves this problem. It is also convenient to bend over to prevent your body and leg from accidentally pinching and opening the flow of water. If this review was helpful, please

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Expensive

Not up to Osprey's usual high standards

So first of all. If you're paying $42 for a reservoir, it must have the manufacturer's bite valve cap on it. I don't have to spend $6 and order it separately. Don't get me wrong, I love Osprey products and will be ordering them this week. Although this is a disappointment. It sits so loosely on my bite valve that it falls off when I pick it up to move it across the room. I won't be returning it as there is no other way to protect my bite valve from dirt, but I expect more from the Osprey. I…

It's not worth it. on Hydration Packs

Much bulkier and much heavier than I expected. I didn't want to pull the hose connectors off to thread the attachment loop since the last time I pulled the connectors off my bladder (to clean it) I couldn't quite reattach it and ended up leaking on my next hike. After seeing how bulky the lid was and how it rubbed against me when the magnet was attached to my chest strap just as I was standing in my living room, I threw it in my sundries basket. Items that will most likely never be used. Very…
