Used my last one for 20 years until it broke.

used my last one for 20 years until it broke when my trunk hit from the back! The old-school analog version works well and is inexpensive. The internal ceramic supports of the heating/charging coil are fragile and this device will not withstand a drop or impact.

Intermittently stops working

Pros: The clips are large enough to fit battery terminals, unlike some other versions of the same tool. Cons: Cables are a bit short. works reliably. It probably didn't help that Revain shipped it without an outer box, and there's minimal protection while it's being dropped by the USPS. Came back and got the Schumacher version.

Great Price, Works Well - FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!

If you want to know quickly whether a battery is good or not this is a great tool to have in your inventory and is not expensive. It's not very accurate, but if you're looking for a simple yes or no then it's fine. Pro tip: DO NOT LEAVE THIS FOR MORE THAN THE RECOMMENDED TIME LISTED ON THE DEVICE. I think it's 15 seconds, but even that's long. You are essentially holding a very hot toaster in your hands. A quick reading with the display switched off is sufficient.

The readings of the new battery are slightly underestimated.

I think my battery tester is reading a little low voltage and load. I only have other testers with RED-YELLOW-GREEN display for comparison. Needle for this tester, but it's barely GREEN on a brand new, charged battery. The case is attractive, the terminals are good and strong. The cables are long enough for me. Do a stress test outside, it smells like burnt plastic. Every car owner needs this if they do more work on their car than washing and changing wiper blades.

Make sure it's the right battery!

I bought two of these to test the batteries in our golf carts. When I thought about the purchase, I saw the designation "6 -12 volts". Since my wife's car has eight 6 volt batteries, it works well. However, my hunting cart that I have at my campsite has six 8V batteries and will not work properly with 8V batteries. It was my mistake but it's too late to return a brand new tester useless to me. The OTC should clearly state that this only applies to 6V or 12V batteries. live and learn

Very useful for the price

Not really bad for a chinese junk. It's sturdy, nicely chromed, clips of acceptable quality. Use a voltmeter to calibrate the meter on the tester using the meter's "zero" setting. I calibrated it to be most accurate between 6V and 12V. Hook it up to a battery, read the battery reading with a decent voltmeter, and set the meter on this tester to read the same reading. A note: the tester is reluctant to work at 50 degrees or less, after heating up from the load coil everything worked fine…

Helped diagnose my backup battery sump pump system

I've seen these for years and when the shop checked my car battery they used almost the exact same model. I figured if it's good enough for use in the workshop then it's good enough for me. Works perfectly and as advertised. I clipped the wires to the battery terminals, flipped the switch and it indicated the battery in my sump pump backup battery system needed replacing. I saved a lot of time by not having to check the components of the Wayne backup system. Now I just have to get a battery and

Voltmeter stopped working after 5-6 uses

For the most part this battery tester is well made with thick leads (although it could be longer), strong battery clips and a sturdy steel body. However, the voltmeter failed after only 5 or 6 uses, which is perfectly compatible with the 1-year warranty. The counter will read zero with a known good battery or a different battery. I opened the case and checked for the presence of 12V on the meter terminals. The counter is cheaply made in a sealed plastic case and not as well made as the rest of…
