Coolant runs faster

These things work great. Used them to install Mishimoto's coolant filtration system. All very well, the hose pliers have accelerated the work enormously.

Good quality: Plier sets

Appears to be good quality. The handles and sponges are sturdy enough to pinch the hose and stop leaks. I used cheaper ones that were brittle and bent instead of applying the necessary pressure. They work fine.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Only available in black

Putting teeth on it sucks. I often pinched.

Attachment teeth on these suction cups. More than once I've pinched the coolant line and returned to the coolant all over the floor. I just don't use them anymore, they're just taking up space in my toolbox.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Clarity

Buy these or more! for hand tools

I have a Kubota compact tractor. New gas filters were required. If you can find a way to swap out either gas filter without those pliers or something, you're a wizard. Mess around, waste your time, break a joint or two and while your street fills up with diesel, try to do a tong-free "diversion bypass", call Revain and order it. Use them ONCE and you will be ahead of the game!

I expected more from OTC

The ratchet that holds the pliers (after you pinch the hose) doesn't hold them shut. Pliers open with minimal pressure/movement. Can be fixed by sawing the grooves in the ratchet, but haven't tried it yet. Disappointed - I was expecting better quality from OTC.

Pros
  • 4510-10 - 10 inch tool for radiator hoses, coolant lines and vacuum lines
Cons
  • weak

Buy these or more! suitable for power tools and hand tools

I have a Kubota compact tractor. New gas filters were required. If you can find a way to swap out either gas filter without those pliers or something, you're a wizard. Trick around, waste your time, break a joint or two and while your driveway fills with diesel, try to do a tong-free "diversion bypass", call Revain and order it. Pros
  • Plier sets
Cons
  • High price

I've only used this set 4 times, mostly I use medium and small pliers. The fifth time I tried to clamp the hose, the medium to small pliers won't hold, they recede because the teeth that are supposed to hold it in place are too small and recede. Now I have no choice but to use a large pair of pliers, which I can only use in places where they fit, they are too bulky. Another thing I noticed is that the pliers don't close straight when you apply the required pressure, they tend to curl up instead

Pros
  • Power and hand tools
Cons
  • Some bugs

Fit perfectly for my needs, no damage to the hoses.

I bought these to replace the electronic thermostat on my Toyota Prius. I had three lines that needed to be clamped. Draining the coolant from the system is easy enough, but it takes a two-hour cycle to replace the fluid and properly "burp" the system. The repair part cost $55, but the dealer estimated the repair cost was over $500. After reading some of the reviews on these clamps I was concerned about how well they would work but I can say they worked perfectly for me. They clamped the hoses…
