The best lifesaver among tools and gadgets

I love it! This caused me to roll forward when I was changing control arms in my cousin's garage and I couldn't manually loosen the ball joints. Bought an air hammer from Lowes, ordered this kit, very satisfied, looks like the blue tip I used when checking with a wrench. I can only recommend this product, I am more than satisfied!

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Great price

A very good quality. for steering and suspension tools

This is a very high quality tool. I bought it so I wouldn't have to dig out a giant fork and hammer for relatively light tie rod ends that I really don't want to smash. I tried it on a fairly large lower ball joint and it didn't work with the air piece, which may be due to my tired air piece. I could upgrade my air chisel but would definitely recommend this set.

  • Elegant design

  • Negative impression

Not a pickle fork set I would recommend!

As a mechanic with 20 years of experience, I bought this OTC 4559 set that was recommended to me by a work colleague. I was already used to my 5 pound hammer but he insisted this set would make my job easier and faster. The first time I had ball joint surgery, I hooked up a fork to my air hammer and after a few seconds of vibration the knurled handle broke. I was and still am disappointed. Lyle had to go. But for now, I'm just sticking with my 5 pound hammer.

  • Weight

  • Not as thick as other picks

A good tool, be careful with it when the thread is loose.

Did it, I didn't find my air chisel very useful so I'm glad I bought a set that had an end I could use with a hammer. Edit: After a few years of ownership and several ball joint swaps, it finally snapped onto the threads. The problem was with the air hammer, there is no way to prevent the threads from loosening when using the air tool. Eventually it broke after several attempts to tighten the threads. Now if I can just replace the part that screws into the fork. The good news was that the…

Works better than expected

Works better than I hoped, I was hesitant at first because I had to roll them. They tighten well though and I think as long as you hit the square of the tool with a hammer and don't try to pry the joint open with an air hammer they will work fine. If you're using them for weekend military work they'll probably last a lifetime, but if I were wielding them for a career I'd probably just buy solid hammers of a different size. It has a nice textured chrome finish that cleans well, good knurling on…

  • High marks for support and durability from testers

and it wasn't that bad. I have already released the upper ball joint.

EXCELLENT! I would give 10 stars if I could. I just used this to split joints on my 2000 F350 4x4. It's currently 18 degrees on my street where the truck is parked. The cucumber fork I had was too narrow to fit the lower ball joints so I ordered this set as it had a 1 1/8" fork. My dad got me his jackhammer (1970's) but it was cold enough that i didnt want to pull the supercharger.i managed to rip the front end to this point a few weeks ago when the weather was much warmer.a hand crank to pull…
