Description of πŸ’ͺ Efficient GM Pitman Arm Remover: OTC 6532 - Unleash Precision!

Removes Pitman arms on pickups and sport utility vehicles. The wedge end is placed between the Pitman arm and steering gear box and with just a few hammer blows it separates them. Works on 1988 and newer Chevrolet and GMC 1/2 and 3/4-ton 4WD pickups Suburban Tahoe and Yukon.

Not suitable for this job

I got this to remove the bipod and tie arms from the tie rod as I had very large pivot points. Don't use this to remove your linkage from the gearbox. You'll end up ruining the steering gear. Use a puller.

Pros
  • Bipod arm removal on pickups and SUVs
Cons
  • Paint not required

It worked perfectly to take the steering relay off the pole.

This worked perfectly to remove the linkage from the steering relay stem, the standard cucumber forks you get in kits won't do enough for Truck GM 99-06.

Pros
  • The end of the wedge fits between the steering linkage and steering box and just a few hammer blows separate them
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Did almost everything I needed

It would be ideal if it was 6 inches shorter or longer. The place it ended was right above the frame portion of my Avalanche, so I couldn't get hit hard with the hammer. Didn't work to push the crank out of the center link but I used it to get the gimbal from the steering box. I partially cut through the arm of the bipod, cracking it with a chisel beforehand. I believe it will destroy your steering gear if not done that way. The arm of the handlebar is taut there.

Pros
  • Removes pitman levers on pickups and SUVs
Cons
  • Some issues
