Fast and easy! - Tools and equipment

I had an old profile gauge with no color designation. It worked, but you wasted more time reading the actual depth. So you can quickly read whether you are still in the black. If you see yellow or red, you'll know quickly that you should start buying a new set of tires. If you want actual tread depth, the numbers are easy to read beyond a quick initial status reading.

Ideal for (HOUSE) use

They are inexpensive and easy to read. I recommend having one in the garage for checking tires on cars. However, these are wrapped stickers. They break off when exposed to heat/fat. The ones we use in the shop are engraved with numbers so oil/thinner doesn't hurt. Yes, over time the ink will fade and they will scratch. For everyday home use, they are unbeatable. If you are a pro mechanic, skip these and get to pro level.

where do the negative reviews come from?

I've studied a few of these tread depth gauges. Almost all of them had many negative reviews because they were cheap, unreadable, inaccurate, buggy, and there were different readings between the two sensors. I bought this 2 pack because of the price thinking they would be just as good as any of the others. I can't say anything negative. You are perfect. You are accurate. They work as expected. I think the complainers are people who are difficult to please or untrained in the proper use of this…

Superb quality and customer service

The first set of tire tread gauges had one perfect sensor and one defective sensor (the probe was able to move within the color element of the depth gauge rather than being rigidly attached, producing a repeatable and accurate result zero reading). I wrote to the seller who responded within 24 hours and after realizing what was wrong with the defective unit I authorized a replacement with a new set. The block exchange was perfect. The gauge is easy to use and easy to read (+/- 1/64 inch as the…

MUST BE! for tire and wheel tools

Every consumer should have this product. I took my car to the shop for regular service. The garage told me to change the tires because they are going bald. I only bought tires 18 months ago and really didn't want to spend the money. I bought this tire gauge so I can check the tires myself. After checking each tire at least twice, the gauge consistently showed that my tires were fine. I took the car to a tire shop to have it checked again and they came to the same conclusion as me. Save money…

Works well but seems as cheap as the price suggests

For starters I'll admit I bought these because they were the cheapest tread depth gauges on Revain (or anywhere else if that so is). For the price I shouldn't have expected quality. In my defense, I've had a sensor in the past that was almost as cheap but worked great for many years, but I lost it when I moved. problem with that? Well, first, the "piston" freely enters and exits with no resistance. So you can't put it on the bus and then pick it up to read it - you have to try to read it on the
