Now my pup can carry his own weight!

I'm tired of lugging water for Hobbs so this was the perfect solution! He got used to it very quickly and it easily holds 2-3 16.9 ounce plastic water bottles on each side. Maybe even 4 in each "saddle bag". The metal ring next to the handle is great for tying to a leash, it stays in place when my dog pulls on it to occasionally chase a rabbit or squirrel. Just make sure the bags are the same weight and this thing will do the trick!

Weak hardware renders harness useless

Ordered this harness twice. The first harness failed right after it was put on my dog, at the front clip where the harness attaches to the dog's chest. Blaming it on a manufacturing defect, I ordered the exact same belt and sent the first one back. The second held together, but broke after just a leisurely walk with a fully discharged backpack in the same place. The first impression of this trailer was very good. I love the look and feel of the materials, but the cheap hardware makes it…

Causes TERRIBLE armpit chafing

I used this backpack for my dog to carry his treats and water (about two standard sized water bottles but in refillable bottles) on long hikes. Not a crazy weight, especially compared to his 90lbs. After walking for only 2 hours I was shocked to find that this packet had rubbed my pup's "armpits" terribly. I was concerned that I had misplaced or misadjusted the backpack. After reading the instructions, making sure everything was put on correctly and trying the backpack again, it started…

Ideal for long journeys!

My girlfriend weighs 51 pounds, a very leggy and skinny Border Collie/Blue Heeler mix. She is very athletic and takes me on very long hikes of up to 25 miles at a time. Needless to say, lugging water for both of us was a chore for me! I was thinking of a lightweight bag that wouldn't take up too much space on her body, that could hold water bottles and food and something that wouldn't drive her crazy. This package is perfect. It's very streamlined so this pack fits perfectly. It's very…

Larger than expected but makes a perfect entry level backpack

We bought this for our 35 lb border collie. She walks pretty well - not much distraction except when she gets too excited by a biker or runner and pounces on them. This was the main reason for the purchase - we wanted to curb their need for herding and hunting. So we filled it with a very light weight to make her feel like she was doing a job when she went for a walk. She wasn't a fan at first, but that didn't seem to bother her anymore and she was lining her pockets, which generally helped her

. decent volume but not as bulky as other hunting dog backpacks

Update 16 August 2015. Maybe this issue has been fixed in the new version of the bag. I do not know. I still really like this backpack but wish it would last longer. I could probably sew it again, but consider that if you're buying a backpack.------------------------------ -- - --------------------------------------------------------------- - ----------- Holds a decent amount but is not as bulky as other outdoor dog backpacks. Its size is perfect for his daily walks and hikes. I can fit two 20…

Pros
  • Beautifully packed
Cons
  • Damaged

Our version differed from the one shown which explains some of the questions and feedback. I was expecting a backpack similar to the one we borrowed, a one piece backpack that fits a dog. What we got (as others have mentioned) was in TWO parts. There is a bottom with two narrow mesh pockets on the sides and a "handle" at the top. Then turn on the part of the "saddlebag" that has a hole in the middle to fit over the protruding "handle". This is actually attached to the bottom with a plastic…
