The RAM came quickly and exactly as ordered.

Made two orders for 32GB RAM, both arrived quickly and have been working fine for several weeks. Nice to have 64GB of RAM! My first computer, a ComPal 80 (Poly 88 in a larger box with a fan - that was around 1977) had 12K of RAM! God, how times have changed. ;-)

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Great product but not the same as ECC RAM provided by Apple

COMPATIBILITY NOTICE. It clearly states that this ECC-R RAM is not compatible with the ECC RAM in the Mac Pro 5.1 that ships with Apple (and which OWC also sells), but that detail is easy to overlook. OWC sells the correct upgrade which I recommend. Compatibility note aside, this is a great product. Stable error-free storage, very reliable. I've been using OWC RAM on my Mac Pro workstations for 4 years with no problems.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Available in black only

Worked fine on my mid 2012 6 core Mac Pro Tower

Installed on my mid 2012 2 x 2.4GHz 6 core Mac Pro Tower with no problems. Shut down, removed the old memory, installed this memory and turned on the power. I've been using Pro Tools and PreSonus Studio One Artist to process large recording sessions for almost 2 months now and have had no problems. Definitely recommend this for a memory upgrade on this machine model.

Pros
  • Useful for more than intended purpose
Cons
  • Reliability

Works on Mac Pro Early 2009

I have already updated the firmware to version 5.1 to use the 6-core Xeon X5690 processor. However, I wasn't happy with the 16GB of 1066MHz RAM, which wasn't enough to avoid having to quit and restart memory-hogging apps. I took the plunge and upgraded to 64GB 1333MHz but found that my system takes much longer to boot up and the fan runs at full speed before going to sleep. Also, my system says I have 64GB but doesn't recognize the higher RAM speed. After doing some research I found that…

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • No auto configuration

Perfect for Mac Pro Grater Upgrade

I used two of these kits to upgrade my Mac Pro 5.1 from 32GB to 128GB as part of a major overhaul including NVMe and SATA III SSD + high performance graphics card. The illustration shows new memory cards installed in the processor bay. Installation was quick and the memory worked great the first time.

It works great in memory

It was easy to install in my MacPro 5.1 Mid 2010 and it would be easier if I realized I could take out the entire CPU tray. It is important to install in the correct order. Just follow Apple's instructions. I am very happy with the installation and performance.

Pros
  • Delicious
Cons
  • Expensive Insurance
