You can't do that with grams.

I really like this scale and it worked well until I needed to measure spices in grams. Anything under 10 or 15 grams is very unreliable. I made a spice mix and first tried using a bowl and setting the dial to 0. No matter what I added, the scale stayed at 0. I then tried moving the bowl and finally got the reading, although it kept changing as I took the bowl off and put it back. I tried placing the ground spice on a piece of parchment paper. A Subtle Accuracy Problem: Zero Drift

This is my first review on Amazon. I bought this scale because of the good reviews and because it was America's Test Kitchen's #1 choice. I really like almost everything about it. However, I may have found a bug and I have a feeling it would be easy for the manufacturer to fix the software bug. I contend it will override "zero" without you pressing the tare function, on the fly if your weight changes very subtly. The only new feature that is the reason to upgrade to this version is

The new version of this OXO scale is very similar to the previous version with one major exception that made me want to add a new one to buy: the scale remembers the unit of measurement you've used in the past - if you set the scale to measure in grams (like I did), turn the scale off and then back on, the units are still shown in grams. In the previous version, it always reverted to pounds and ounces, regardless of the last unit used. For some, the old way might be a minor inconvenience, but…
