OXO SteeL Ice Cream Scoop Review

After trying several spoons over the decades, I finally found one that easily scoops hard ice cream out of the freezer. I know Cook's Illustrated prefers the OXO model, which is said to get warm from the heat of your hand, but I've never found that type of scoop to work, and I love the release button on this model. I also like that it can be washed in the dishwasher.

I have an OXO ice cream scoop that is several years old. I love it. It's far superior to anything on the market today including the current OXO ICE Cream Scoop which I recently bought as a gift for my daughter as she loved mine. Well, that's why my original just keeps getting better. My older one weighs 128 grams - 19 grams more than the one I just bought. I regret not having to purchase it. Oxo is a good brand. Almost everything they do is of excellent quality, usually with a distinctive fin grip. I like a good solid ice cream scoop and I like a pop up spoon like this. But now I've bought two of these with the same disappointing result of the screw cap coming loose.
