Great and better than Brookstone

This is better than the first one we bought, the Brookstone compact corkscrew. With this OXO, the foil cutter is faster and easier to use, the device slides tighter around the neck of the bottle, works just as well if not better, and comes with a spare corkscrew. I had to throw away the Brookstone when the corkscrew got bent and shifted. I hope that the replacement corkscrew and the ability to swap it out will make the product even more durable.

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Not the best

The first Oxo product I've ever bought that we hate so much we just threw it away after less than a month. Foil cutter only flat does not work. I don't know if it's too big on the neck or what. But it just doesn't work. Can't cut the slide, how sad is that? Worse, the opener doesn't work. The screw doesn't turn, so it just pushes the cork into the bottle. Douse them with wine. I don't know if this one is broken or what. But after the third bottle, the hell with it, pun. No amount of fiddling…

  • practical item

  • no performance

Perfect for the task but didn't last long

Works like a charm as advertised. Never worry about removing the cork from a wine bottle again. The foil cutter proved very effective as it could be easily removed and replaced with a slot on the corkscrew; Smart! And it was just as easy to take the cork out of the corkscrew once you've taken it out of the bottle. He also worked with natural and synthetic corks. You will never want or need anyone else. CONTINUED: DO YOU MIGHT NEED another one! When I took out the cork after twelve months of…

Overall great design; However, I have concerns

I've looked at a few openers and I think this one was pretty impressive. However, after receiving the goods, I have a few concerns: • More plastic than I thought or stated in the description. Plastic isn't always bad; However, I believe it depends on where in the product it is used. • In the middle of the share there is a disc that serves as a guide for the auger. I would prefer metal here. • The disc needs some freedom of movement to accommodate different bottle sizes I suppose. However, I am…

Great wine opener, not so good foil knife.

I have had many different wine openers over the years. with a metal leg that rests against the top of the bottle to provide leverage when peeking - in both cases these species broke the glass bottle and forced me to pour the wine down the drain for fear of broken glass in the wine. I've had several two-handers. They work fairly well, but require a twisting motion that I find less and less comfortable as I get older. Some of them broke (usually the lever breaks) and it's a hassle to get the cork

Pros
  • Bar and Wine Tools
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging
