These are great for cleaning the TOP of an oyster where the shell meets the adductor. I bought 6 of this style and they all broke within a week since I fired from the hinge/BOTTOM side. The top of the knife itself would buckle back and forth with stiffer oysters, leading to inevitable breakage.
