The water in my aquarium got really disgusting

My fish were fed over the weekend while I was away. After that I let it sit for a week just to see how my fish would behave if I ever had to take a longer vacation. The water got so cloudy that it took me a month to try different things and finally use a 4 ounce bottle of API ACCU-CLEAR Freshwater Aquarium Water Purifier to get my water clear again. It was so dirty I couldn't see more than an inch in the tank and it was bright green with algae. On the other hand, my fish was alive.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Some flaws

That doesn't take 2 weeks.

It's been in my tank for 3 days and it's gone about 40%. I wanted to test this before trusting him to feed the fish for 2 weeks. I have 2 young chic goldfish that are about 4 inches and live in a 65 gallon tank. I still feed her twice a day with the occasional fresh veggie treat and this feeding block definitely won't last 2 weeks as you can see. On the other hand they love it and it's a good way to add more variety to their diet, but that alone isn't enough to feed 5-10 fish for 2 weeks.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Expensive

14 days of vacation were a complete success!

To my pleasant surprise, my fish survived my two week vacation in two 3 gallon tanks. I have never seen a fish eat the product, but the main thing is that it is alive. I only had 2 black skirt tetras in one tank and 4 different tetras in another. There was still more than half left in the food blocks, although many small aquatic snails had eaten them, so I think they would have lasted much longer if needed. In addition, unlike other types of feeders, this one does not cloud the water or cause…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • boring packaging

Does not dissolve on fish and aquatic animals

This product did not dissolve. I put it in the tank 1 day before the trip to make sure my betta didn't starve and it was bubbling when I dropped it in the tank. I thought it meant it was dissolving but it doesn't. The package says it will take a few hours but I waited all day. The next day I decided to break off a piece hoping it would foam up and continue to dissolve, but that didn't happen. This made the tank cloudy. My fish tried to eat what I pulled out of the piece but she didn't like it…

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • I can't remember but something happened

BEWARE ! This feeder killed my 1 fish that was over 6 years old.

I first tried this holiday feeder in my fishing hobby because I didn't want to disturb my neighbor who just came to feed a fish (no matter how valuable) while I was away. Mr. Fish was the only animal in the house. In its long life it has endured heater failures, filter failures, even acidic water in the tank (my fault). And he lived and prospered. When I bought him he was a very small fish but now he is much bigger. He was alone in the 15 gallon house. I believed that the API product would do…

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
