So this is the traditional method of attaching a table top or table top to a frame. When properly installed, they allow some topside movement due to seasonal temperature and humidity variations. Being steel they are stronger and more durable than other similar fasteners I have used in the past. I used a forstner bit to make a recess in the frame rails for the clamp, after that it was easy to attach the panel. Great product and great solution.

Most figure eight fasteners (at least the one I use) are the same size on both sides and fit 1/2" or 9/16" holes. They come in a variety of sizes and appear to be designed for use with a metric drill. I used the smaller side for the cabinet frame and had to use a 5/8" drill bit. They are perfect for mounting a shelf to a piece of furniture that my dad and I renovated. My grandfather built this media cabinet over 35 years ago and I wanted to keep the original wood he used when my father and I demolished/remodeled. As the shelf was originally attached with a groove I had to cut it out and reassemble with these fasteners, they aren't even visible - they were used to install the shelf on the right hand side above the doors. Ideal!
