Works with large printers

This is a 20A surge protector that requires a 20A outlet to plug into two 15A or 20A outlets. We use this with a large multifunction printer on a dedicated 20A circuit and it works as expected.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Initial functionality as advertised

I use this on my treadmill and it works well. The connection status display is good. The minimum 30 foot clearance for conductors between the box and this unit is a challenge since I installed circuitry at home specifically for my treadmill and the treadmill is installed next to the circuit board.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Fairly good

Easy to read status indicators, quickly repairs voltage. Most dishwashers and ovens require 20 amps due to the surge in current when the motor is started. 20 surge protection when 15A products open the critical start voltage drop circuit, can not withstand a 20A load Protects its equipment when the Xcel line surge burned out the neighbors' circuit boards, the 20A melting furnace and the dishwasher .

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • High price

Read the fine print before you buy

There is a technical requirement that you must be within 30 feet of the MP. packed up. Now I have to install 15 feet of conductors on the circuit to use it! Usually, the smaller the spacing and conductor, the better, but in this case the manufacturer decided to lower the cost and require a buffer resistor from the consumer. I can provide manpower, in which case I have access to a conductor splice that many others may not have easy access to. These are significant additional costs.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Good product - online description could be better

This is what is being described but it might be useful to know about the bits not described: The input pins (where you plug these into the power supply) are 20A configured, ie one of the flat contacts is at right angles to the other. Perhaps this could be deduced from the 20A rating, but this is not obvious. I had to go for the adapter - no big deal. There is an output socket on either side of the tread - one has a round pin at the top and the other at the bottom - a nice and useful design…

Special plug for accessories and consumables

I bought this surge protector because of the 20 amp rating. I have a plug in car and the charger disconnected while working at full power (about 12 amps). I bought it to see if line surges are causing the charging problem. The device has a special 20 amp plug with one leg rotated 90 degrees relative to the other. The problem was that I couldn't connect it directly because of the hinged cover on the socket (external type). Took me about $40 to make a matching short extension to fit them. As a…
