I bought this surge protector because of the 20 amp rating. I have a plug in car and the charger disconnected while working at full power (about 12 amps). I bought it to see if line surges are causing the charging problem. The device has a special 20 amp plug with one leg rotated 90 degrees relative to the other. The problem was that I couldn't connect it directly because of the hinged cover on the socket (external type). Took me about $40 to make a matching short extension to fit them. As a result, it turned out that the problem was not overvoltage, but undervoltage due to the long line length. All this is not a device error, but note the special requirements for the 20 amp plug.
