Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 Zoom really works!

I bought the Fuji f30 because of its reputation for the best image quality in a camera of this size. It took great pictures, but the ergonomics were problematic. It was difficult to use, the controls weren't intuitive, and it was limited to 3x magnification. In addition, I found that almost all uses of the camera seemed to require more zoom. I looked at the Lumix range and decided the TZ4 is the price I pay for the features I need. I bought one and a week later I was able to sell the f30 (still

I love this camera, good for camera and photo

Let me first say that I am not a camera fanatic so I am not very knowledgeable about all technical aspects of cameras and limit myself a mainly on using automatic settings most of the time. The only thing I usually change is to turn off the flash. However, I think it's a great camera for people like me. It takes high quality pictures with automatic settings and one feature I really like is the 10x zoom. This is of great importance. The build quality of this camera is good and solid. It's a…

This is a very good camera!

After reading many reviews, mostly from people who can't resist comparing this camera to a $700 DSLR. It's better than I expected. The build quality is first class. The buttons are of good quality, look good and are small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. Several people praised this camera but complained about the lack of indoor performance. I get very good results indoors. In general, the camera is very easy to use. Good photos can be taken with a little practice. In video mode, this camera…

Best camera we've ever had

I'm not a professional photographer but I consider myself an advanced hobbyist. I jumped on the "digital" bandwagon in 1998 and have had 8 different cameras since then. I currently shoot with a Canon SLR for most of my life, but bought this Panasonic for my wife (she had a small 5MP Canon in her purse for point and shoot use). She wanted something small, light, but with MUCH better ZOOM abilities so she could shoot birds from time to time. Panasonic seemed to fit the bill. We've only had it a…

Can't beat the size (and money)

I just competed in the 2009 World Figure Skating Championships on my newly purchased TZ4. I wanted a small camera with a wide angle lens and powerful zoom, as well as good speed and accurate capture (especially with color contrast), and a TZ4 or 5s seemed right up my alley. Since the TZ4 was cheaper and I didn't need any upgrades to shoot video, I chose it over the TZ5. It's not a DSLR, but then again, no DSLR will ever be this cheap or this small. It can slip into my usual purse unnoticed…
