This is a reliable, professional phone system, especially when compared to systems, even Pansonic systems, that sell for $100 less. and often distorted. The sound in these phones is reliable and much clearer. While they have design features that the hard of hearing will appreciate, the average user will appreciate the sound quality, especially if the caller is using a crappy sounding cell phone. This was a pain for me. I never know when it's not working properly. I suspect this comes into play when the battery isn't 100% charged. I pick up the phone to make a call, dial a number from the phone book or missed calls and immediately put it on speakerphone and when the person I'm calling answers, they can't hear me even if I answer Phone. speaker off. Me edit my review after a few uses. The phone works but after letters to Panasonic I changed my review of this phone. The reason I gave it one star is because you can only plug in a cheap bluetooth headset and I find that ridiculous for a phone like this. I have a Sennheiser Business Bluetooth which I can listen to with amazing sound etc but it doesn't connect properly to this phone and Panasonic won't change that.
