Old school radio, really good

After reading all the reviews about how good this radio is I took a chance and ordered it in an open box for $20 less than a new one. Not only was it in perfect condition, but it was in the box. During the day FM worked fine, AM too. But at night it's a different story on AM and SW. The stations come at night. This is an excellent radio. Just the basics and it lasts a long time on batteries. Great sound too. I recommend it for DXing.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • There are flaws

What an unexpectedly cool find!

I'll try to be brief but this is a fantastic radio! Excellent sensitivity on MW and SW and equally high selectivity on both. Tuning can be tricky for those not used to an analogue dial, but if you have a light touch even weak signals can be dialed in! FM is great but I rarely use it. The speaker has a full sound and is balanced. The headphone jack is truly mono and works well with single old school headphones or modern headphones with a stereo to mono adapter. The retro look is amazing although

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Not the best

Test - PANASONIC RF-562D AM FM SW Shortwave Transistor Radio

Everything I expected from AM [MW. now] / FM radio. It has decent sound quality - Good volume - Excellent reception - Looks "old school" and I am "old school". Bought to replace a 35 year old multi-band portable radio that was being used in my garage [tuner weakened and I lost tuner ability and reception quality]. Having unpacked and installed it I have no complaints about this radio. The batteries will be replaced after almost a full month if left on for almost 10-12 hours a day. Yes, I like…

Pros
  • Useful beyond its intended purpose
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Great value for money great reception

I have just received the radio RF=562D AM FM SW I must say I am very happy with this radio. It's plastic, of course, but it offers excellent reception on all bands. I'm particularly pleased with the AM reception which I found excellent, during the day I was able to pick up KOGO in San Diego which is a low power station and it comes in clean and strong at 130 miles. The FM section, while not stereo, has great sound and doesn't seem to drift and I don't think the radio has AFC, the sound is rich…

It works very well on all bands.

The Panasonic RF-562D is a great return to classic radio design. It works very well on all bands and is worth the money for what you get. Detailed video review on YouTube. Features I love about this radio: * The classic look is great. * Includes a carry case that really brings out the nostalgic look. ideal for speech such as talk radio, sports, shortwave listening and classic radio broadcasts. * Works on D cells which is good for many days. * Long whip antenna. * Easy to use. Features that…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Available in white only

THIS IS A GOOD AM RADIO!

I love listening to AM band and this radio works VERY well! I've tested it on several excellent radios and it's very sensitive. The radiojayallen website gave the Sony ICF-19 a 3 1/2 stars out of 5 in AM Radio Shootout, which is a great score compared to the best AM radios in the world, and my Panasonic beats it a bit. This new version is not a true analog but uses a DSP chip but is customizable and works very well. VHF reception is very good, as is shortwave. The speaker sounds good and is…

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • I have no bad feelings about it, it's just great

UPDATED REVIEW AFTER THREE MONTHS - Great sound quality and fitment

UPDATE OCTOBER 23, 2020 - One star deducted. I found it necessary to log in again to update my experience with this radio. After about three months of almost daily use (working four hours a day) I found that the volume knob was slightly off. I use this radio on my desk at work and prefer to keep the volume down. The volume control has lost its ability to provide a low volume level, going from low to medium high with a small crackle. This is clearly a mechanical fault and a disappointment as…

Pros
  • Affordability
Cons
  • Too stupid
