Complements my PanaVise settings but use caution

To complement my other final assembly vise. (Why does Revain give me a misspelling for vise but not vise?) Funny! Update: This isn't your dad's PanaVise. The holes for the slides were roughly machined so the last three or four turns to close the vise was very difficult. I used a micrometer for the diameter and spacing between the sliders and they were the same. So the problem must have been the sliding holes. After about two hours of sanding the inside of the holes, cleaning and trying again, I

I wish I had bought it 30 years ago

For maybe 30 years I stayed away from Panavise thinking it was a cheap rickety cast iron POS etc (never seen it, not real life ). But this thing is great! Sturdy and strong enough for light to medium work. Over the years I have purchased several different vises and clamps for the versatility to position odd jobs for light drilling or light work on a drill press or workbench. This time I couldn't hold the angled plastic part for the precision repair hole with any of my other setups. So I bought…

Hard, crevice-free vise, jaws could be better

has been several Panavise in the course of the years and the products they make today are honestly as high quality as ever which is great to see in this day and age of production and the loss of so many businesses. They've managed to keep the price pretty stable over the past 25 years, which is pretty amazing. The finish and fairing itself are a bit smaller than before, but it's fairly minor. If you find a defect, just contact them and they will fix you. They're great for holding work in place,

Pros
  • Nylon jaws provide excellent electrical insulation and gentle holding power, withstands continuous heat up to 200 F (93 C), momentary heat up to 300 F (149 C)
Cons
  • Disappearance

Good but broken

I just bought the standard base, this vise head and a weighted electronics base. I would say the purchase was worth it, but the workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. Mine also had numerous dents and a slit in the front of the grip/cap (and there was a large dent in the grip at the base). Not cool. Firstly, you can greatly improve this vise head (and base) by disassembling, cleaning and lubricating it. I wiped my 99% iso down to remove any metal residue (which seems to be pretty much all over…

Pros
  • Choose a 300, 305 or 380 base and create your own universal vise
Cons
  • Slightly dented
