Smart purchase, great tool.

This type of bottom bracket was commonly used on bikes in the mid 90's. Mine didn't want to come off. I ended up having to get the shock to remove it. I ran it with an impact wrench and inspected the tool. He was in perfect condition. I'm glad I spent the extra money and got a better tool.

Use a screw to prevent the tool from slipping off.

Works well, all these tools are the same. Tool slippage under torque is a Shimano interface design issue, not parking. To prevent slipping, hand tighten the tool with a 45mm 8x1 bolt. Install a washer, 24mm or smaller. It needs a square hole, yes, but just get a 1" deep socket if you're using a torque wrench. Pedros makes a bolt tool, but a bolt and washer is less than a dollar.

  • Everything is fine

Fits well. My old ground brace slipped a lot

Perfect fit. My old bottom bracket which had pretty fine teeth slipped a lot but worked much better with the new one (Shimano BB-UN45) which was deeper. My relatively small ratchet didn't provide enough leverage to reach the drive side. (Also keep in mind that the drive side is reverse threaded so you have to turn clockwise to remove) so I had to get a bigger wrench. The tool has a 3/8" socket (all the others I've seen used a 1/2" socket). Depending on your tools, this might work better. It…

If you don't want to mess things up, use the right tool for the job.

This key is required to remove the bottom bracket lock without damaging the bottom bracket or the bike. It will be your best friend to unscrew the bottom bracket locknut without damage. The wrench fits snugly and snugly. However, due to the shallow depth of the bottom bracket locknut, this wrench must be inserted as deeply and evenly as possible to avoid loosening when attempting to remove the bottom bracket locknut. I figured it was best to use the pry bar and socket to loosen the lock…

No need to buy a new bike because of a stuck cartridge!

Excellent quality. I had another softer metal park tool and ended up busting (but the cartridge didn't bulge). The local mechanic also couldn't remove the cartridge and offered to buy a new bike. Then I decided to try again and bought this item. It is made of very hard steel and does not slip easily. To make sure it would fit snugly on the cartridge I threaded a long screw through it and screwed it into the crank hole. On the other side I put a washer so it snaps into the cartridge. Eventually,

Definitely worth the price

My bottom bracket lagged too long on the Black Diamond Singletrack. I wasn't sure if I needed to replace it so I bought a Park Tool crank puller and this BB tool. Following some instructions on YouTube it was easy to take out, clean and reassemble the BB. The tools were absolutely necessary (not surprising since they were made specifically for a specific task), but they worked so smoothly that the process was fun. I'm not a bike novice, but a repair novice usually stays at the bike shop. Since…

BBT-22 is different from BBT-22S. Both work, but you can get both.

I ordered the standard BBT-22C because it obviously replaced the BBT-22. Okay, I could live with the new, shorter version. To my surprise and delight, an older, more versatile BBT-22 was delivered. I like the heavier build and the ability to work with multiple wrenches. This extended sleeve also comes in handy for removing a tight resistance floor without having to glue a stack of shims. On the other hand, the shorter one, BBT-22C, is less likely to wobble since it requires a larger socket or…

Sturdy and well built

This tool inserts firmly into the slots of standard Shimano bottom bracket spline cups. Despite the relatively soft metal of the cups on the cheap (and now worn out) original sealed cartridge bearing square taper bottom bracket (VP-BC73 68x118mm) on my old bike, this tool was able to extract the cups. without removing the slit on the cups or the instrument. While there are instructions on the tool packaging as to which direction to turn the tool to properly loosen the bottom bracket shells…
