Description of Park Tool PTS 1 Tire Seating

This tool is designed to quickly and easily ¿seat¿ stubborn tires. During inflation, tire beads often slip below the rim edge and are difficult to pull out. Simply place the non-slip jaws on the tire and lift out. The Park Tool Tire Seater adjusts to various tire widths. It's chrome plated and the handles are vinyl coated for comfort.

Not very well made and difficult to adjust

Definitely not a tool to be proud of. This is a cheap pair of channel locks with curved parts welded on. Kind of a waste - could have been a lot better with a little more effort.

Pros
  • It is chrome plated and the handles are conveniently vinyl covered.
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Buy good tools. This is boredom.

Does what it says on the tin. Durable enough to be used as a melee weapon. Comes with a ridiculous Proposition 65 warning. I suspect it might harm the reproductive system if you put it where it doesn't belong. But then it's Murika.

Pros
  • The Park Tool Tire Seater adjusts to different tire widths.
Cons
  • Weight

Don't waste money

This tool is not intended for direct use. That's just a water pump pliers with two 1/2 tubes welded on. They're awkward to use due to the plier handles, and since they use water pump pliers, it's easy to damage the rim on the back if you pay attention to the tire bead. There are other tire calipers designed to do the job that are easier to use and much cheaper.

Pros
  • This tool is designed to quickly and easily "mount" stubborn tires.
Cons
  • High price

Tire mounting tool: Sport

I would like to start by saying that I have been a professional bicycle mechanic and wheel builder for over ten years. Park are the only tools I have used on my bikes and those of my clients. This instrument does not meet Park's standard functional quality. The design and grips make it difficult to fit wider MTB tires. I would recommend an adjustable turnbuckle or visa grip design going forward. Wouldn't recommend this tool.

Pros
  • Tire beads often slide under the edge of the rim when inflated and are difficult to remove.
Cons
  • unreliable
